Bottom line the Urban Armor Gear Case is a rugged, solid case that provides good protection for the Surface Pro 4 Tablet. The Pros - Fits Great - it isn't as hard to slide the SP4 into the case as some would have you believe, and when its time to remove it, just use pressure on the correct places and it POPs right out. There is no danger to damaging the Gorilla Glass on the SP4 unless you are using a screwdriver or pocket knife. ***** Pro cont. - The Pen holder is excellent and fits the SP4 Pen snugly into place. Little chance of losing it and it actually holds onto the pen if you place it into a carrying bag etc. Pro cont. - The upper right TypeCover elastic band is OK - its a nice thought and will do it's job, but as others have said - it will eventually break. The CONS - Booo! The downside for SP4 i7 users is the ventilation - While mine has yet to overheat - I can see that on a warm day or in elevated temps, the case itself and the poor ventilation will most likely lead to possible overheating. In which case - the case will come right off. The CONS cont. - The kickstand blows! I mean really - for this price I would expect something a little more stable, quite and overall a much more professional job. I am using this on my surface pro 3 and I love it. You might ask why not just get the one for the PRO 3 model, well the pen holder is built in on this one and that is a game changer. I needed to make sure the pen was safe in my travels rather than use that flimsy keyboard loop attachment. Its tough, dropped my Pro with it on and it survived (pen didn't pop out), it also has a fully adjustable kick stand and a rubber tab/string on the top right corner to flap over your keyboards edge so it doesn't move around. My keyboard connects without a problem and fully closes. Now the USB on a Pro 3 is in a different spot that a Pro 4 just by a half a CM, so the only change i had to make is just snip a tiny piece of rubber that was blocking my way, note that the case did not lose rigidity what so ever after I did that. The volume up and down buttons are covered with this case as well, again because of the placement on the Pro 3, but again you can still get to them by applying pressure. Note the pics for the change I made to the USB area. Its a tough yet beautiful case that is a travelers delight, the back rubber adds an added grip and I have yet to have a single over-heating issue with it even after hours upon hours of photo editing. ... show more

For anyone that is prone to dropping tablets this case is perfect to protect. He doesn’t use the start but it would have come in handy when he was on the walker to move his tablet. Easy to install and durable.

    • Great case, noisy stand
It feels sturdy and I feel like it would protect my tablet well if I dropped it, though I'm not testing that. The back provides a nice amount of grip and has a look that would suit gamers very well. The clip for the stylus is a huge plus. I will never lose my stylus as long as I use it. I can also attach my stylus magnetically to the left side(landscape mode) or top(portrait mode) for shorter periods of time, though it's stayed well when I put it in my laptop bag. You CAN put it on the right side in landscape mode, though not as securely. The red color matches the red type cover perfectly, though as you'd expect the texture doesn't, but it still looks good with it. The shape conforms very well to the keyboard as well. Alas, there are drawbacks. The biggest for me is how noisy the stand is. It's always embarrassing when I adjust the stand and it makes a loud clacking sound. The Surface's original stand, in contrast, is buttery-smooth and looks elegant at the same time. This stand is far from elegant, but the rugged look is nice depending on your tastes. The second issue is plugging in headphones. The hole really only allows for cords designed to work with phone cases. Thankfully my headphones came with a thinner cord along with the non-case-friendly cord, so it's an avoidable issue. Third, the rubber around the spot where you plug in the power makes it harder to align the cable correctly. This probably adds a second or two to plugging it in, is likely an issue with most other cases, and is likely more an issue with the shape of Microsoft's connector, so it's not a huge deal, but an issue the case introduces nonetheless. Fourth, as others have mentioned, you really can't use the micro-SD slot anymore once you get the case on. The case is hard to remove, and completely covers the slot. I opted to just up the storage space on my tablet instead of expanding a micro-SD card, because read/write performance is slower with a card anyway and it's less organized using 2 drives. ... show more
