Great splitter, works well, and we love that it can be used with many different diameters of pieces of wood. My only advice is to bolt it down on a secure surface with the largest bolts that will fit, we sheared the first ones we used while splitting wood.

I like it however if you're logs were not cut square it will give you trouble to split them.

It's just ok. If your wood is fairly well seasoned and has a nice straight grain, it will split it quite well. If the wood is green at all or the grain is twisted you will struggle. The flanges designed to "twist" the wood and aid splitting are ineffective. they overlap too much, so if the piece of wood is remotely difficult to split it will either jam on the flanges or will push towards one side and come off the splitter. Splitters with flanges angling out are more effective as they actually aid in pushing the two pieces away from each other. The splitter is also shipped with a pretty dull edge (mine had about 1 mm of flat material above the bevel). Again, not an issue with well-seasoned and straight-grain pieces, but makes it difficult to start greener pieces without additional sharpening.
