  • Easy and works!
The media could not be loaded. Got these and so far they have done a good job at keeping the birds away. Not to say I don't find 1-3 eaten peaches a week, but last year I was losing around 40 peaches a week! Great investment for a small price.

  • They Actually Work!
For years now, I've been waging war on birds in my backyard, particularly dove. Yes, I know what you're probably thinking "why dove, how can the universal symbol of peace cause such hostility?" Well, I'll tell you why. Every Spring time, we get our fair share of pigeons, grackle, killdees, martins, hawks, sparrows, etc. Along with those birds, we have dove. For some reason, unbeknownst to me, all the other birds never seem to stick around to build their nests in preparation of the soon to arrive newborns. Thank Goodness, Right? Yes! I'm beyond thankful that those birds decide to take up residency somewhere else, no problem. I don't know what it is about my backyard that makes it such a dove magnet. I truly wouldn't mind if they made their home in my backyard but the places they choose to build their nests are not the best places at all. The two main locations are right under the eve of my patio roof. I'm talking, right on top of the mounted speaker and the other location is on top of the outdoor roller shade that's mounted on the outside wall of the kitchen, right over the place where the bar is and where people sit. This might seem like prime real estate for the dove but I'm the one paying the mortgage here and I get the final say! They're like bad relatives that you're really okay if you only see at funerals and weddings. They are beyond messy with the poop and nest materials that are constantly falling on the surfaces where I serve food. Not to mention the occasional egg that falls and cracks or the baby that jumped too soon... I've actually shed lots of tears in these times. The emotional roller coaster that these dove have put me through is too much. I've witnessed "flight day" where both mom & dad teach their young how to fly. It's pretty awesome to witness. So, this proves that I do have a heart, somewhere in this body. I digress, I'm sorry... Okay, back to the review. Over the years, I've purchased the following items to deter the dove, which all ended with failed results: scary rubber snake (scared me more than the birds), big plastic owl (one dove would actually sit on it's head), super sonic sound emitter that was motion detected (it repelled my husband and I more than the birds. Ear piercing is an understatement), long, metal spikey strips (which the dove used to help secure their nests even better to the above said locations) & the famous flashy, reflective tape that made my backyard look more like a 24/7 disco party. I kinda liked the look for a hot minute but then, not so much... Then, (drum roll please) I found these little reflective discs with christmas ornament type hooks. This to me was a much better choice than the reflective tape simply because of the hook and the extra weight they have, verses the tape that is, by the way, now wrapped around the rafters of my pergola due to the wind. Yes as others have mentioned, there's some assembly involved. Not a problem. Put on a favorite TV show, some good music or an Audible book and zone out. It's mindless work that will have you putting these together like a pro in no time at all. Hey, I'd rather do the work myself rather than pay more $$$ for someone else to do it. I bought my first set of these discs last year. So far, the dove have only come as far as the fence line and that's about it. My husband found remnants of a nest that was in the beginning stages but was abandoned, Thank God! So all in all, I am dove free! Hallelujah! ... show more

  • Too much work to put together
The product itself is fine. It’s effective at keeping the birds away. The problem I have with this is it took forever to put together. You have to peel a protective film off each side. Then you have to attach the circles together with a split ring. It’s very tedious. I have purchased a different reflective bird spinner that was so easy to put together with just a hook. ... show more

  • they did not deter birds
These did not work for me. I think my barn swallows used them to check their lipstick! Maybe Texas has bolder birds. I used them hanging from the patio edge (nope). Then hung them from deck ceiling fan (nope). Turing on the fan worked. LOL

  • They don't look like much, but man - do they ever work
A robin has been fighting itself in the glass of my kitchen's screen door. That wouldn't normally be terrible - I thought it would tire out and quit after a while - but by the end of the second day, I was wishing bad stuff on it, just from the noise alone (and, of course, the ankle-deep crap the little stooge leaves in front of our door). We ordered these discs and got them the next day. I put up with the birdbrain's shenanigans for the first hour, until I got these put together. Now, the little goof isn't coming near anymore our porch. Success! Couple things to remember: Out of desperation, I ordered these without reading much about them first. You must assemble them yourself. So if your eyesight is bad like mine, have a 7-year-old handy to help. The good news is, you don't need any tools. Next, don't peel off those protective clear and blue-tinted backing film! It's a powerful impulse to do so, I know, but the instructions clearly tell us not to. Although we can't find a fresh nest around this year's problem spot, I've got three porches and a cable-company box attached to my house. Each of these places have hosted bird nests in recent years. There are eight pieces of these in total, assembled in strings of three, so I've got plenty to use every location simultaneously. The oversized Christmas-ornament-type hook is not always suitable; however, between them, the tiny caribiner clip (included) or some thin zip ties, there's no place you can't hang these discs up. I highly recommend them! ... show more

  • No more birds in my gazebo
I had birds trying to nest in my gazebo. I tried everything including fake owls, reflective tape, but nothing worked. I hung these in my gazebo, and I have not seen the bird since. I wish I would’ve discovered these sooner.
