Uh oh, driving home from my 50 plus mile commute the alternator light came on, and a voltage check revealed that the alternator was no longer charging. So, buy a used one on my old Scion or a new one? Used electrical parts are often his or miss and the used ones I found at the pick and pull near me were not encouraging. I could take the alternator apart and replace brushes, regulator or diodes once I checked them out. But I needed my car for the commute. A local electrical shop said they would rebuild mine for about 200 plus tax. Found this one on Amazon and it had one day shipping with a 2 year warranty, and it was new. Item arrived and appeared to have good build quality on inspection. I installed it, and it started right up and charged perfectly. Wasn't a hard job, just took a few minutes to get the belt on correctly through the tensioners. So far the alternator is functioning just like the original. Alternator functions quietly and no malfunctions at this time. I recommend this part, will update if it fails prematurely.
