I was looking for a compact UV umbrella to replace one I bought abroad and loved but subsequently lost. This one is perfect. It is small, light, and could fit in a large front shorts pocket sticking out a bit. It is made for one person. So if you’re looking for an umbrella that covers more than just yourself, move on. I’ve used it daily for my walks in the islands and it is sturdy and provides UV shade from the sun, which cuts the heat you would feel without it. So at minimum it provides a couple degrees cooler temps under it, if not more. It is not for use in windy weather. It will flip inside out. So don’t plan on using it in windy locations/circumstances. One positive, though, when it flips inside out from wind or otherwise, you just press the open/close button and it collapses itself back to its “ready to close” position. This possibly takes the pressure off from needing to force flip it right side up over and over again, which is good. It would keep the rain off your head but that’s about it. But again, I bought it to keep me cool during my daily walks in hot sunny conditions. I use it on cloudy days as well, to keep the UV rays off me. In all, it’s perfect to use on sunny days for walks to cut the heat. It would help in a sudden downpour or steady light drizzle to keep your head dry. If you’re looking for an umbrella for the same reasons as me, this is the one. I will update my review if the umbrella breaks or deteriorates significantly.

I originally bought this because I coach track and field. I had spent one season roasting and was determined not to let it happen again. So I bought this handy dandy little thing and it changed my life! At first, people laughed and called me a vampire, but after a while, they wanted to know where I bought it. It was superb for the hot and sunny days and even did the job during the rainy meets. Every kid wanted to crowd under it, and while they loved being able to take advantage of the shade, were too embarrassed to buy one for themselves. I also invested in a large golf umbrella of the same style so that more people could benefit. Anyway, I’ve traveled with this in my backpack on airplanes, ferries, sightseeing, or even walking to the store from the parking lot. Sun? No problem. Rain? No problem. Wind? It’s not inverted on me but it has felt like it wanted to fly out of my hand. But that’s what the wrist strap is for. I MAY leave it in the car during the winter, but this is definitely a 3 season item you should have on your person. Sun damage is real. Heat exhaustion is real. And those are the main reasons for my purchase, but it works in the rain too and fits in most purses and backpacks. It also weighs next to nothing. If your child plays outdoor sports, buy this. Your skin will thank you!

The only downside is that it's small, so if you are looking for protection from the sun (as I am) then it will protect your head but none of your body or feet. For the rain I'd fear the same problem! If it were at least a few inches bigger I'd like it much more. So it's great... but... I may not use it as much as I could if it were larger. Seems almost like a kids' umbrella, at least not "normal" size. I'm keeping it, but very sad that it's great but too small. Why don't they make a larger version too? I'd pay more for a larger size if they offered it. I'll be using it but in a more limited manner than I would if it were bigger. Can you tell I'm disappointed by the size? Good quality of material and it will definitely protect from the sun, as the material is reflective and thick. Plus, the mechanism of raising and lowering the umbrella is very strong. Overall it's close but not 100 percent of what I need. I'm keeping it, but wish for more...

This is my first time using an umbrella while walking to and from my car in Arizona during the summer - what a lifesaver! This is perfect for keeping scorching sun off your head AND it is also a great umbrella for our pop up thunderstorms this time of year. Great product and worht it!

I just received my umbrella and put it to test by holding it up against a large window where the sun was directly glaring into it. I opened it up and placed the umbrella fabric a few inches away from the glass. I was pleasantly surprised to see that no sun came through the fabric. I then held it up to the window where half the umbrella was in direct sunlight and the other half protected by the adjoining wall. There was absolutely no difference. I couldn't see any light coming through on either half. The instructions are on the hang tag attached to the handle. I like that the umbrella closes up by pushing the button in the same way one presses it to open it up. The only difference is that you have to the push the stem down towards the handle to latch it closed. It was easy enough to do and better than the complete manual process of less quality ones I have owned in the past. Once it latched, I gently pulled out the folds and was able to return it to the same neat way it arrived with the attached velcro strap. The sleeve is nice in that the closed umbrella slides easily into it and fits nicely. No skimping on the fabric and struggling to get it back in like another one I used own. The only improvement I would make might be a snap to keep the sleeve in place, but that isn't a deal breaker by any means. Highly recommend. All in all, this is a product I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to protect themselves from the sun during this record breaking summer heat. I will be buying another one of the same in different colors to share with family.

I live in the Middle East and with the temperatures and daily sun this umbrella keeps me from overheating when I walk to the gym and back. Despite the light structure it’s pretty sturdy. I just wish the top was black as the silver stands out a bit much to my liking
