  • A nice sharp bit
1/4" end mill bits are my work horse bits for my smaller CNC (32"x48"). On my larger machine (5'x10') I run it as a speed that's just too fast for these small diameter bits. Chances are you also have a smaller machine if you are looking at this bit. I use the same feed and speed for name brand bits similar to this one and the results were very good. Minimal tearout on the end grain (it's an up cut bit so you have to expect some). The bit measures spot on. I'm not sure why the company lists the diameter in fractions while the length in metric. Also the length listed is longer than the cutting edge. I would like to see a mark to let you know how deep it is in the collet but eyeballing it does work. I manually entered the dimensions at 3/4" for a cutting edge length. Over all I got really good results until my dust collector's motor burnt up. I finished the cut but until I get it repaired I can't do any more testing. ... show more

  • Worked great, sharp and only minimal tear out
This is an up cut bit, so it works like a drill bit - the cuttings are pulled up and out of the cut. This makes for quicker cutting and reduces the risk of jamming or burning, but can generate some tear-out on the top surface, as can be seen in the picture. Different woods will react differently, so test cuts are your friend. If you need a perfectly clean top surface, you need a down cut bit, but down cut bits can tear out the bottom if you go all the way through. Pick the best tool for the situation, or understand limitations and be willing to work with them. The storage box is also great - sometimes it's the little things. It holds the bit securely in the lid, but not too stiff to risk cutting your fingers pulling it out, and came with a flexible tip cap to protect your fingers. It is also compact, labeled, and transparent. I have several router bits that came in storage cases that are way too big and take too much space unless you have a dedicated bit holder. I have tried 3 different bits from this manufacturer, and all have performed well. ... show more

  • Dang, this bit is scary sharp
I have a number of carbide spiral router bits, and this can hold its own against any of them. When I first opened the case containing the bit, I was a bit surprised to see that the bit had another cover on it inside the case. Only reason I can think of that they have the additional cover is to protect you from slicing your finger open when you remove the bit from the green part of the case. Yeah, it's that sharp. The edge is honed to a mirror like finish! I think if this was a straight cutter and longer, you could probably shave with it (by hand--not using a router to power it!). The price for this bit is on par with other similar bits I've seen from relatively reputable vendors, but I would go so far as to say that it's a good bit nicer than most bits I've seen. I have no problem recommending this bit. ... show more

  • No documentation
The bit overall seems to be fairly well made and sharp. I got really excited thinking that the QR code on the side of the plastic container would take me directly to some documentation on recommended feeds and speeds. But no such luck as the QR code dead ends to a zero result google search. After searching around for a while, I gave up looking for docs and just used conservative feeds and speeds listed for the equivalent name brand bits and it seemed to run okay. One other thing that seemed worth noting is that if you are using this in a CNC router, make sure you keep in mind that while the shank is measured in imperial (inches) the cutting dimensions are measured in metric (mm). ... show more

  • Very nice bit
I do not have any current projects that need this bit so I just did a bit of testing and can say this bit did a very nice job. It is very sharp out of the box and comes with a soft plastic cap on the bit itself. The bit is sharp enough to cut wood and flesh easily! I tested it on some of the harder wood in the shop and it cut cleanly leaving a bit of fuzz at the top of the cut when cutting cross grain. A second pass cleared most of this up. Cutting with the grain gave me a clear, clean cut. This is a very nice bit and I'm pleased with the performance. 5-stars ... show more

  • SHARP!
I have an 6030 CNC with a Makita-style router as the spindle and tested this endmill with 6061 Aluminum at 300mm/s and 50% power on the router. It worked great with deep plunge cuts and fed well without any chatter. This is a sharp bit and has well ground edges and the flutes look like they were well made. This is 1/4 all the way through so it should last a long time - great bit for your home CNC! ... show more

  • Quality bit
I needed a beefy bit for my little CNC and this was a good choice. I use it for profile cuts and to cut out signs, it has performed very well, lt leaves a nice finish on MDF. It feels very sharp. It has earned a place in my starting lineup

  • nice quality 1/4 in bit
the bit measure true in diameter and cut matched diameter. I often use a 1/4 inch for cutting hole larger than a 1/4 inch and up to 1/2 inch. this bit appears to be able to accurately spiral cut hole in this range. Havn't used it enough to see how long it stays sharp.
