I have been using various size endmills for 2 months on 6061 aluminum and 1018 steel. The 1/2" has gotten a lot of use. All are still sharp. Excellent starter set. Get a couple different size roughing endmills for heavy stock removal and use these for finishing cuts.

    • Not very sharp.
These endmills are not sharp. They leave a burr on the edge of the material. I am cutting aluminum so its not difficult to remove the burr. I will not buy this brand again.

1/2" 4 flute snapped on second pass!! I am not a machinist, more general sheet, plate, & light structural fabrication but have 2 Bridgeports and have machined simple parts for close to 20 years so I have a general idea what I'm doing. Trying to machine a step into one edge of a 1/4" HRPO (1018) plate about 6" long, had my feed rate set painfully slow and SNAP! ... show more

Inexpensive end mills that due what they were designed to do, cut metal cleanly!

My end mill set will not cut any type of steel. They dull immediately. I am shocked that they get any level of positive rating for steel. yes I am using the proper cutting fluids. I have been a machinist for over 40 years so I do have experience in this area. They might cut aluminum or brass but the set I was sold does not even scratch the surface before becoming dull beyond re-sharpening. For my use they are a total waste of time and money. Unfortunately my return time has passed so i'm stuck with end mills for wood....I hope. ... show more
