I ordered this kalimba for a gift. I received it, not in a bag or box or packaging; but the shipping stickers were all over the box, and when I tried to take them off, the glue on the stickers would not come off, and it was a mess! I wrote to Amazon and told them about my issue, so the said they would send me another. Well, I just received the box, and it arrived the same way, with stickers all over the box, and glue stuck all over the box!!! This is supposed to be a gift, and I can't give it with the sticky, messy box. It's too bad, because the box is really nice, and the kalimba is beautiful! And the price is really reasonable!! Having said that, a couple of the tines are dead which affects the sound when trying to play a song. So disappointing! UPDATE: I decided to keep the kalimba because it is a beautiful instrument! The dead tines are not so dead, and I cleaned up the box as best I could (not too bad). I know that the receiver will love it!.....also, I purchased it for a really good price. This kalimba instrument is an absolute delight to play. The sound is rich and soothing, and the craftsmanship is exceptional. Sounds really nice and it's tuned to a major scale so this would be pretty easy for anyone to pick up and play, as far as negatives go there isn't a lot, the tuning can be a little tedious and the very high end tines can be hard to make ring out but these go for any kalimba I've seen, highly reccomend. ... show more

I got this little dude just for the fun of it. I’d never even heard of these until Amazon suggested it, but so far I’ve been very entertained. I’m not exactly sure how it’s supposed to sound as far as quality goes but I also don’t believe I need to know everything about something to have all sorts of fun, lol. I am a music teacher and pianist. This looked like fun to learn. I bought it only to learn to play and enjoy. It has been pleasantly challenging to learn to play. The layout of pitches are very different from a piano keyboard. I am learning to play it rather quickly all the same. I leave it sitting near my easy chair and pick it up several times every day. It's sound is similar to a quality music box. I think people with all levels of music education would be able to learn to play it successfully. ... show more
