Does this work? YES. It will hold your AC in place and it latches on very well WITHOUT having to drill anything. I have had no problems with the structural integrity of the bracket and it does exactly what it advertised. The issue I have with this bracket are the INSTRUCTIONS on how to put the piece together. I'm usually pretty good at assembly and even I was stumped on this one. The paper instructions it comes with are absolutely useless. The only saving grace was a poorly shot youtube video that shows you how to put this together. Even the video has the worst angles and steps, but with enough pausing and zoom, you'll get it done. This is NOT hard to put together. However, the "instructions" are SO bad, it makes it seem a lot harder than it actually is. Other than this criticism, I'm satisfied with the purchase. The materials are sturdy, I received all the hardware and it does exactly what it claims. Prep yourself in advance and maybe grab a buddy to tackle this assembly so at the very least you can have a few good laughs in the process. ... show more

    • I bought one from 2 separate brands & both are challenging to put together.

The media could not be loaded. I bought one of these drill less air conditioner support brackets from two separate brands here on Amazon. And even though the first one/not this one was hard to figure out how to put it together as the instructions were almost completely not existent. This one didn’t come with all the pieces needed but instead with unusable pieces. So if you’re like me when you go to do a project that is the time to get it done. Well I had to go to two stores over two days and get assistance from two different men one at each store to try & help me find this exact item that wasn’t enough put in the packaging. So of course the window to work on this more got crushed for several more weeks and stuff moved around or gets put a top of the still left pieces to get the job done. So just on that factor I’m disappointed in this bracket even though it seems like to like the better bracket and has more ways to see how to put it together with their video. Yet you’re at my level of handyman, you will be stopping, pausing, rewinding over & over again to see what the guy is doing in the assembly & installation example video. So I might feel less irritated once I get this put in the window finally after I get back to watching this video again and finding all the rest of the pieces hopefully still in the area I left them. I’m going to take a picture of the two different types of pieces together. The one on the left I have found a use for yet as it hasn’t fit anywhere up to the almost last stages and the one on the right is the one I didn’t have enough of and I went & got 5 more hopefully what will be enough. Somebody at this company will probably defend their product and it’s supplies but I cant say a novice would agree.     • Difficult for small units

I was trying to use this to secure a small air conditioner so that I could reach over it to cover it in the winter. My difficulties: (1) The unit doesn't extend very far out, so the outside of the mount wouldn't drop enough to give me the incline I needed. I could get it level but had to shim it to make it tilt properly making the following even more critical. (2) The only thing keeping the unit from sliding around on the mount is the top sash. I have not been able to work out way to secure it to the window frame, which is vinyl with a marble ledge, or to the mount itself. (3) The spaces between the mount and the unit, and the mount and the windowsill are large, and the mount and the ac side panels are large, consuming about 15' of 1"X1" weatherstripping for a 36"W window. Weatherstripping will be a pain regardless of the size of your unit. ... show more

Difficult to assemble. I ended up finding the video of how to assemble it because the instructions were hard to follow. Havent installed it yet because the ac is too heavy but it looks sturdy

I got this and paid a lot more than what is is now but thats my luck. It was kinda a pain to assemble and adjust but once thats done its easy to install in the window. You have to make sure you have a tilt on it for the ac to drain also. I had to do it twice cause i leveled my ac. Also its hard to insulate the window once the ac in installed. I have no regrets and its strong. I am using a 12000 btu unit and this holds it with ease. ... show more

Pros: Its nice and really heavy duty. I can see this lasting a long time. It also has a built in level which was handy during installation. Cons: The setup 1) The paper instructions are not helpful at all. Thank god they had a setup video. 2) It is not easy to get the angle/Position of the arms correct. You have to unscrew the bolts, reposition the arms then screw it all back together again. You have to do this over and over again until you get the angle correct. Other AC Unit support brackets did not have this. You just pressed a button on the arm and it lets you reposition it. ... show more

First off I reviewed the 1 star comments and I agree the instructions stink but that does not merit a one star rating. If we made it thru high school we were given the tools to figure some stuff out on our own. There are about 10 metal parts and plenty of pics showing different views on the Amazon web page. There are only two different nuts so you have a 50-50 chance of getting it wrong. As for the pic of the swinging bracket you have the feet on the wrong end. I mounted this in the window of a fifth wheel camper and worked great and should work in just about any window application. Although a bit pricey it is made of a good gauge of steel and feels quite strong. The first order was missing the feet & pads but they took care of the problem right away.
