I had the original remote for my television and it had been abused by multiple drops onto a hardwood floor. This one is more durable than the original one, it works better, and has more options to go directly to streaming services. It seems to have sufficient range to change the television from any spot in front of the television. I have not tried from behind it as you need to see the screen to do stuff and that makes no sense to use it while not looking at the screen. We bought another controller that was cheaper. We had bought that one, two times due to the plastic breaking. With this one, I could tell the plastic was thicker. It's held up quite well to 4 kids handling it. If this one continues to hold up, it will be the go to when it needs to be replaced. The only issue I've seen is the controller will sometimes not respond and say it needs to be connected. Then will connect a few seconds later. This happens very rarely though. As with many replacements for factory original parts, I figured this might require some setup and/or have some limitations. Pleased to say that it worked flawlessly right out of the box. It does not look exactly like the provided remote, which stopped working after about a year. ( The middle button on the navigation wheel no longer works - a typical occurrence I’m learning.) I actually prefer the format and feel of this remote, and it’s easier to use without looking. Buttons went out on my old remote (left) and I had no success finding a Samsung replacement and even if I did they were priced at $110 or more. I’ve ordered a couple off amazon before, the ones with the wireless usb and none of them worked. This one actually works!!! The only function I dont have from my old one is the pointer button.
