    • Terrible Instructions, No Red Brake Light. They claim to be updating.
UPDATE: I have corresponded with the vendor. The vendor is not the manufacturer and the vendor claims there have been instructions sent to the manufacturer to make the instructions correct and the parts more visible. However, the note they sent me, which they claim to have sent the factory, is very vague and not very directive. I have upgraded to 3 stars because they sent me a few bucks to offset the cost of the red brake light I had to buy. However, I caution any buyer that the instructions may not be properly descriptive of the parts, even to the extent it may make assembly more difficult. Not impossible! Just difficult. The three most important things any buyer should know are: 1. Do not tighten any bolts completely until assembly is complete, then tighten generally in reverse order. 2. The rivet nuts are metric, though roughly 3/8". When you drill holes for them, drill 7/16" first, see if they fit in the hole, then maybe use a round file a little bit. A 1/2" can be used but just get the hole to the point that you have to tap the rivet into the hole, not slide it, especially if your truck is aluminum body. If the hole is too big the rivet nut will not grip. It will slip when you try to install it and then you are screwed. My advice is to use an actual rivet nut installation tool. 3. The light is white. The truck chase will probably hide your existing third brake light. If it does, it won't pass safety inspection. You will have to go on Amazon and buy a red brake light to wire in to your truck and figure out with bolts and fender washers how to mount it to the back of the cargo shelf on the chase. I thought the instructions were the worst part until I installed the "third brake light" -- which is NOT RED!! I will give some credit to the artistic design. It looks cool on the truck. However, the instructions were possibly the worst I have ever seen, and I'm 68 and have seen a bunch. The parts names did not even match the parts names of the same part on the same page! They call it one thing in the parts picture, then something else entirely in the instructions. The parts photos were not big enough to see the differences in the bolts so you don't know which is which. Speaking of bolts, the sizes did not even match the parts list, there were too many of some and not enough of others. There were not enough of one size washer and too many of another. They didn't even tell you when to use washers or not, so you had to hope you had enough. Nope. They don't show enough detail in orientation of parts to make sure you have it the right way (I did) and they don't say, which almost all instructions tell you, do not tighten any bolts until it is all together. Then, work backward tightening but you'll have to work it. As one reviewer wrote, they only give you about 3" of wire with the light that mounts more than 2' away from your truck cab, and then.... It's a white light!! Dunce Cap award!! If you cover up the third brake light with the new roll bar/cargo thing, the law requires you to have a third brake like. It has to be a RED brake light! Sheesh! Now I have to go find a red brake light to fit the hole. Not cool. Not a happy camper. Really dumb of someone to not have thought that out. Again, it does look cool on the truck, but it gets my worst instructions award. ... show more

Love it it looks really good on the truck. I am happy with everything about it except the wiring hornist is not there they give you a very short end to the light hornist 3 inches tops. And they give you two pieces of red plexiglass with double-sided tape to fit over top of the 4 x 4 they do not fit do you have to go out and make your own ... show more
