Unrequested story, but I don't care. I accidentally bought a pair of these years ago, in Hawaii.....Wait....Let me rephrase that....I bought an extremely similar pair of Union Bay shorts in Hawaii years ago, and they were instantly my favorite shorts. And I'm a guy that tends to wear shorts 7 days a week, 365 days a year. I'm serious. My body thermostat runs very high, so I wear shorts in the Winter, too.....and will only wear long pants of any kind if I'm going to be outside for over 45 minutes...or if it's required. Anyway....Back to the shorts.....The pair I bought in Hawaii saw many years of wear, but I couldn't find then again, anywhere. I searched and searched and nothing.... Then a few days back I stumble across these here on Amazon, and thought I was seeing things. Ordered them right away, hoping they were exactly like the pair I had, and when they arrived, it was a great day. They fit GREAT!!!....Just order the waist size you would on a basic pair of jeans, and you WON'T go wrong! I'm 6' 3", and wear 36" inseam jeans....So, finding shorts that aren't Daisy Dukes is neaxt to impossible.....Until now. I LOVE them!!....And every payday will be buying the different colrs they have....and even multiples of a few. Comfortable.....Tough....Look great totally slobbed out or casual with a nicer shirt. I'm 6'4" 190 and they fit perfectly. Length is right under the knee the way I like it. If you are under 6 feet tall maybe they are a little long but for taller guys they work very well. There are 2 negatives if you can call them that. One is that the shorts come with annoying tags that you have to be careful when removing. The second negative is that the material is a little thinner than I would have preferred. They won't withstand heavy use or hard work. This is only a minor negative though. I've had shorts with even thinner material last for years but if you are a big guy that would stretch the material then I would suggest something stronger. For tall thin guys these will fit great. I'm getting a couple more color to rotate. Not easy to find shorts that fit this well. ... show more

I never like giving negative reviews, but I will say that I held on to these for a month before wearing them because I bought them for vacation. I the third time I wore them, a small hole began to show around the crotch, about an inch and a half right of the zipper, where there are no seams. By the end of the day, it had spread to 7 inches. The fabric just began unraveling. I keep my phone in that pocket, and it appears as if the weight of my phone put too much strain. It is really weird. I'm just glad I wasn't running commando, as I had no idea that the tear had spread. Eventually my family noticed it while we were at a zoo. I untucked my shirt, but it didn't cover all of it. Quite embarrassing. We tried to repair it in our vehicle, but it didn't to much good. Even with the stitching, it began coming apart again, which can be sen in attached photo. I've been wearing Unionbay's Men's Cordova cargo shorts for years now, and have worn out quite a few pair. Sadly however, Unionbay has seen fit to produce a cheaper made variant of this once phenom of a cargo short. What's different from the originals? To start with, the leg ties are no longer functional. Where you could once pull them tight, and tie off the leg opening, now they're nothing more than non-functional window dressing. Merely two three inch long pieces of fabric made to look as though the leg openings could be tied. The cargo pockets are no longer riveted in the corners, and the velcro used on all of the pockets is much thinner, smaller in size, and weaker at keeping your pockets closed when actually using them. It's a sad day for me, for as I said, I've worn this brand and style for years. ... show more

If you can manage to find these for under $20, then I think you've found the right price because sometimes these shorts can fetch up to $30-$40 for one pair & that's too much. To be fair they are kind of thinly made. I ordered two sets of the black type & bought these when they dropped the price at $14 each. Honestly they look like a brand that might be found at Walmart such as WRANGLER, there's nothing really fancy other than the leggings being able to be adjusted with a drawstring at the bottom or opening & they also come with an old style cotton belt. That being said they do seem to be durable, comfortable & looooong. The description states that they have a 13" inseam but it's actually 15"(in.) I've worn these several times & washed them so the color has stayed strong thus far. I will update in a couple of months as the only concern I've mentioned is the material seems thin but worth it when you can find them for under $20. ... show more

I got these for my husband but he picked them out. He had gotten a pair years ago in a brick and mortar store and loved them so much but couldn't find them again until he found them online. Some 2017 reviews said these were not very well made and that the ties around the legs didn't actually tie but the shorts we bought in the year 2020 do tie and they seem so far to be well-made (time will tell). These are my husband's favorite shorts. He's 6ft 2in and 250 lbs and he likes shorts that go just below the knee (but not those really long ones). Most shorts are too short for him and sit above the knee. He loves these shorts so much that we bought three pairs in different colors. The shorts also come with a belt so that's a bonus. Also the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) on the tag on the shorts is around $48 so getting them for $25 is awesome. ... show more

Cargo shorts are definitely cliché for the “dad wardrobe“. That said, these fit nicely, are reasonably durable and I appreciate the kneelength cut. I wish they would modify this design to include back pockets with buttons instead of Velcro. In certain situations, I found my wallet can fall out while I’m sitting in a chair, which could be disastrous if it happened in a public place. I think a button flap on the back pocket would probably solve the problem. ... show more
