I have purchased MANY pairs of athletic shorts over the years. By far, these are my favorite. First, they have pockets that are useful, but very concealed. The way they are made, the pockets lie complete flat against the body and are not the least bit visible. Second, the fabric is lightweight and not scratchy or crunchy like some shorts. My waist measures 29", and my hips 36". According to the size chart, I would wear a M. I ordered the M and it was not pretty. The waist of the M sat nearly to my natural waist, and there was muffin top. I am pretty fit and trim, so muffin top was a surprise. I decided to try a L. The L fits comfortably below my belly button, at the top of my hips. They do not look baggy or over-sized, and they are definitely not in danger of falling down. These are my new favorite shorts, and I've ordered them in L in a few colors. One reviewer commented that these are great athletic or leisure shorts for mature women because they provide reasonable coverage, but are still very cute. Honestly I wear mine when working at home in the summer and when working out! They're great for lounging around the house or running errands. They ride up a bit and the pockets don't hold much, but are super comfortable. I have 5 pairs!

These are super comfy! However, I only give 4 stars because they run very large. I ordered a 1XL and I’m glad I did. I normally wear a XXL in knit shorts from Walmart. A size 3 bottoms from Torrid or 22/24 in jeans. The 1XL fits great. If you’re bigger around the butt area, you’re good because I’m flat back there and this fits well; you definitely have room. I have smaller hips but i have a larger waist so sometimes it’s hard to find shorts that are comfortable around the middle and don’t make me look huge. I absolutely love these and I’m buying another pair!
