  • Great Soap! Cleaned myself, my friend's dog, and dishes
Scent: Fragrance Free
Took this out in to the woods for an overnight with some friends. Used it on our dishes, my friends dog, and my hair. It's not the Kiehl's my hair is used to, but we're camping and it did the trick. Appears safe for the environment so I felt good about using it in the river. Good size bottle for traveling too. Glad I tried this brand and will probably purchase again when I run out. ... show more

  • Great all purpose soap, and the sage smells fantastic
Scent: Sage
I know this soap is supposed to be for camping, and that's really what I ordered it for. But once I got it and took a sniff, I knew I was going to want to try this in my next shower. I can confirm it's great for bathing, reminding me of castile soap, which is what I'd normally use at the campsite for its biodegradability. The scent is on the masculine side and not perfumey, so it should work fine for washing dishes, hands, and just about everything else (again, like castile soap). The small size makes this very packable as well. The only downside from my perspective is the cost – it is significantly more expensive than liquid castile soap for the quantity, and I don't know that it does a better job to justify that. Scent really is fantastic though, so maybe that makes it worthwhile. ... show more

  • Great multipurpose soap!
Scent: Sage
Love multipurpose products, especially when it comes to camping. This 4-in-1 is no exception. It’s even in a scent that works in all situations! I’ll admit I had doubts about it because the description says this stuff cleans a range of things that go from needing to be squeaky clean to needing to be clean but not dry. First of all, I love the scent. It’s like I’m in a designer fragrance’s version of California’s deserts. It’s there, but not too strong (or maybe it’s because I like the smell)—I catch drifts of it instead of knowing I’m sitting in a cloud of perfume. It’s masculine-ish but women can wear it too—as can dishes! Secondly, it actually successfully manages to get both me and my dishes clean. To accomplish this, it walks a middle ground between leaving absolutely no residue (what I normally want for dishes) and being emollient enough to leave skin not tight and dry. So there’s a little slickness that I can feel when I rinse off my face or skin (which dries to almost-tightness, but not quite for me), but it handles grease pretty well (my Corningware squeaked. My wheatstraw did not). I imagine clothes would similarly benefit. It’s a bit on the more liquidy side (more like dishsoap than shampoo), but it suds well. I’m one of those people who religiously uses shampoo AND conditioner for my straight, shoulder-length hair because I don’t like it getting tacky or pulling out more of it when brushing than I need to. This soap is more like the shampoo in the ‘80s and ‘90s, where you really have to follow up with a conditioner unless your hair is very short, so I pack a small amount along with this if I’m going to using it. A bottle will last a fairly long time, I figure, which is great because I don’t like having to constantly refill/replace things. I like the flip-up nozzle for dispensing just the right amount of soap too. This is good stuff! ... show more

  • works great!
Scent: Fragrance Free
Great soap. Very versatile -- works great for anything. Cleans well, rinses well, smells like nothing. That's what I'm looking for, personally. I will say that the seal was impossible for me to peel off and I had to cut it with a knife. So just FYI before you're out in the wilderness covered in dirt. 😅 ... show more

  • Not concentrated, but a good camp soap.
Scent: Sage
This is the second brand of "Camp soap" I've tried, and I admit it's quite different. This comes in a great bottle, and as some people mentioned my seal was pushed by the cap, but it was still in tact. Actually, it was a fight to get it off and I ended up just stabbing it open. I decided to try this at home in the shower, since I don't like trying new things when you're out in the woods and don't have an alternative. The scent is light, and it does smell good, and the soap is gentle enough when I used it. I did note, that it seemed like it never quite got my hair clean, as it didn't suds as well as the one I had bought before. I washed my face with it, and it was gentle enough that it didn't burn my eyes or feel like it was drying out my skin. When I began to wash my body, however, I felt like I was using an excessive amount of the product. Perhaps I'm used to camp suds being so concentrated, but this felt like normal body wash in the amount I needed to use. It's possible my home water just isn't great for soap suds, but I was slightly disappointed...so much, in fact, I switched to my normal bar soap about halfway through. So here is my conclusion. First of all, you NEED camp soap. It's designed to be environmentally friendly and useful for multipurpose things like hair, body, dishes, hands, etc. DO NOT take normal soap backpacking or hiking. This soap checks all those boxes....but I have to say it isn't my favorite. I am still giving it 4 stars because it does do everything it is supposed to do, but chances are you will use more than you might think if you're expecting it to perform like some of the concentrated brands. ... show more

  • Great scent, not too harsh
Scent: Sage
I go out on trials often over the weekends, and used to carry hand sanitizer with me. However, sanitizer doesn't really get rid of dirt that well, so I'd find myself waiting till I could go to a public restroom to wash my hands in the sink. This soap was perfect for my needs since it is biodegradable and I didn't have to worry about harming the environment when using it. My review is based on my experience using this a couple of times on a trail in a single day. It produced a good amount of lather, and didn't feel harsh on my skin (I have only used this on my hands). One small drop was enough to wash my hands. It has a really nice scent too, sort of herbal-like. The bottle has a little flip open spout that the soap dispenses from. If you use this, remember that biodegradable doesn't mean that you can use it directly in a stream. It will still take some time to break down naturally, so wash it off on land away from a water source. ... show more
