Sooo, just recently my garbage disposer broke and since my husband was forced to do plumbing work, I decided to replace my kitchen sink and faucet, as well. Turned out great, until I realized my trash can wouldn't fit under the sink anymore. So I needed a trash can. When I noticed the quality stainless ones were over a hundred bucks, I laughed. Nope. No way am I spending that much money on even more stainless steel that I have to clean fingerprints off of. Then I found this one on Amazon. It's perfect. I love how big it is, I love the durable and functional plastic design, I love I didn't spend a stupid amount of money on it. Some reviewers mentioned nasty packaging tape that had taken off the silver finish on theirs; mine did have any tape, just a large shipping bag firmly wrapped around it. Easy to use, clean, and takes up minimal space. As you can see in the picture I set mine near a chalkboard wall my kids write on and they've drawn on the trash can which I think is fun. The black plastic has a subtle matte texture. The chalk goes on easy, wipes off easy. Also, due to the narrow design, I still have full range of movement with my door. I don't get any nasty smells coming from it (like some reviewers noted since it is a swing lid--not entirely sealed), but then again I've always bagged the real smelly things separate and put them outside immediately. I've never let diapers, garlic, onions, or meat packaging incubate in my house. Duh. Anywho, I've been using 30 gallon clear Kirkland trash bags with it. If I take the time to tuck the bag under the silver ring, they would stay well hidden. However, I don't have the time for that and I don't care if I see some clear plastic. Great, fun looking trash can. Happy shopping UPDATE: 3.26.17 The nickel (plastic) finish has gotten some scratches on the top. Over a year of use, not surprised. I took the swing top off, sprayed it with some rustoleum sliver spray paint, and put it back on. 10 minutes, tops. Looks brand new again. DIY fix. Still happy with it. ... show more

I absolutely love this barrel! It is the perfect height for a dog owner. My dogs can not get into which was a problem with my other barrels. Easy to assemble, the design is great and I thinks it sharp looking!

So I had an old cheap plastic garbage can that was so flimsy that the lid fell off every time you lifted it. Enough!, I said. My office had bought a few of this brand of trash cans and I admired their qualities of attractiveness and hands-free trash-tossing, so I bought one for my kitchen. I LOVE IT. Now, it IS big. Very big. So be sure to do your measuring before you order one. And I'm not sure that you can buy bags to fit it at your local Safeway. Maybe, but to be on the safe side I took another Amazon reviewer's suggestion and bought the brand of bags she recommended: simplehuman Code P Custom Fit Drawstring Trash Bags, 50-60 Liter / 13-16 Gallon, 3 Refill Packs (60 Count), for $27 and worth every penny. These bags fit perfectly. I love the 'swinging top' feature on this can, which means you can throw away a handful of apple peels in by pushing with the back of your hand and releasing them - you never have to touch the garbage lid with messy fingers. For larger jobs like peeling potatoes (if you, like me, don't have a disposal), the entire lid comes off easily. As I said, nicely engineered, attractive, and BIG. (We don't have to empty the kitchen garbage nearly as often anymore.) If I had to list one drawback, I wish that the silver swinging lid fit the hole more precisely, but that's really nitpicking. ... show more

Really good item and love the fact that it hides the garbage bag. Ends up making the kitchen look cleaner and it feels sturdy, not cheap like plastic the black polypropylene feels semi ceramic. My only real complaint (its not even an issue, just personal preference) is that they sold one with metal swing door and side. Other than that, its perfect and matches my kitchen. Make sure to use 16 gallon bags, you can use smaller ones, but I wouldn't recommend it since it doesnt expand the full length of the trash can so heavier items will pull the bag down further. EDIT: 5/14/2018 Found out 16 gallon bags are not common and have to be special ordered (at least in my local stores). Which is not a big deal, been using 13 gallon and they work fine just be-careful of dropping heavier items in there. I haven't had any issues even with beer bottles/wine bottles. Love the trash can. Really well made. EDIT 2: 5/24/2018 Actually, putting wine bottles and heavier items in does hold well. The center piece of the trash can (silver circle) holds the bag pretty well when you lift the lid off, the bag falls in to be taken out. ... show more

We bought two; one for trash and one for recyclables. They are large enough to handle our family-of-five's waste. They're tall and thin and do not look out of place in our kitchen -we have stainless steel appliances with black accents on oven/microwave. We have a dog that it is out of the puppy stage, but still rambunctious. She has not been into any of the trash (yet). We used to have 12 gal trash cans with the press top (spring) lids. They lasted about a year :( I'm hopeful these will stand up to our family of boys and the pooch. So far very happy. I wish I had bought them sooner! Shipping: One of the cardboard boxes seemed a little rough with a hole in the outside and a side crushed in a bit. They sure didn't waste any expense on the one flimsy piece of tape across each of the flaps. That said, there was NO flaws or issues with either can/lid/ring combo. There was a *little* bit of what looked like black grease marker on each ring, but I'm not concerned even if it doesn't come off, which I expect it will. ... show more
