This was a lifesaver! Works great and doesn’t fall of!
This was a great purchase. I have a ten foot sit on kayak and I previously had bought a different type of kayak dolly. It was the one with the black and yellow plastic wheels. It was so bad I wound up throwing it in the garbage because it kept folding up and collapsing during use. Perhaps I was using it wrong but it was not user friendly. This design seemed like a no brainer. I used it this week and it was great. The kayak quickly goes on to it and one strap (although it comes with two) attaches the kayak in seconds and you are ready to go. It holds it securely with no slippage. No more dragging the kayak across concrete, grass or sand to the water. My kayak is 65 pounds but you really don’t feel any of the weight pulling it while it’s on this set of wheels. It was easy to assemble and the wheels easily and quickly detach if needed for storage or transport. I wish I would have bought this a lot sooner. I highly recommend this model to anyone looking for an easier way to transport their kayak.

Easy to assemble!
Works as advertised but I really wish it had quick-release pins that held it together. Twice it came apart on me; once while pulling it up a 6 inch step loaded with my kayak! Easy fix though. I’ll figure out something. Still worth the $.

Exceeded my expectations!
Fantastic cart—super easy to assemble and surprisingly sturdy. It showed up in a compact box and was assembled in minutes. The fact that it goes together (and comes apart) without any tools is a huge plus, especially for storage. Despite the simplicity, it’s impressively solid. My kayak is a fully loaded 13 ft fishing kayak weighing around 120 lbs, and this cart handled it without breaking a sweat. I used it both from my garage to my truck and on a quarter-mile walk down a bumpy dirt road to get to a remote creek. By centering the cart under the kayak, I didn’t have to lift anything—just pull—and it made the whole process incredibly easy. Due to the high weight capacity there were no weight concerns at all and the cart handled the trip effortlessly. The little kickstand is a lifesaver. Some reviews said it was useless, but that hasn’t been true in my experience—it’s essential for getting the kayak onto the cart quickly and safely. The straps hold everything securely (just make sure they’re tight), and the wheels WILL stay on as long as the retaining clips snap in properly. You’ll hear the click when they’re locked. I read some reviews where the wheels fell off, but obviously they did not have the clips secured properly. I've probably transported my kayak using this cart over a couple miles of bumpy dirt roads and absolutely no problem. After using this cart a couple dozen times, I can confidently say it makes moving a heavy kayak almost effortless. Great product, well made and well worth the money... even at double the price.

Do not, under any circumstances, buy this.
Absolutely terrible copy of what I assume is a good product - don't be fooled by the similar design. To set the tone here - I assemble engines, antique watches, everything from IKEA, and build entire buildings from scratch - I am not unaware of how to put things together. This cart was impossible to assemble - first of all the bolt in the kick stand is far too long - its at least half an inch longer than it needs to be and you can see in the instructions its not supposed to stick out past the lock-nut - but it does. This makes getting the kick stand through the center hole very difficult - you basically have to force it. Not that it matters however - the shape of the kickstand makes it impossible to then get the two halves to mate together - you cannot get the one side to rotate over the hump in the kickstand without interfering with the other side. Either the kick stand is slightly the wrong shape, or the center hole is too small - either way, you can't assemble it. Finally, even if somehow you could assemble it - perhaps you are magic - you are certainly not breaking this down lake-side and storing it inside your kayak - if you ever did get it assembled, its never coming apart, so you need to have a way of storing an assembled cart on your kayak - I do, but those with a sit-inside boat would be in trouble. In short - buy this only if you want pieces of scrap plastic, because its not a kayak cart.

useful cart to kayak solo
After researching the name brand version of this durable kayak cart and this off brand name product, I went with this one. I believe the name brand was on sale and priced at $100. This one I paid $75 Labor Day weekend 2023. I like the straps on mine better. The metal clasp has grab and tightens very easily compared to my friend's name brand straps with plastic "clasps". These straps are not wide but they are plenty strong for my polyethylene kayak (Wilderness Systems Pungo 125) and my tendency to take good care of my property. To use the cart, the key is to search YouTube for some tutorial videos. Super helpful. Only one person needed to use the cart - the reason why I bought such an "expensive" kayak tool. You also don't want to jostle the "kickstand" so set the kayak on the cart correctly the first time or remove it from the tail of the kayak and start again. The kickstand should face the rear of the vessel, like a tail. I've only needed one set of straps so I attached the second pair and left the rubber bands on it in case they are ever needed. Before putting the yak on the cart, I toss them towards the back end of the cart and they hang up off the ground, available if I need them. The cart breaks down easily enough to place in my kayak. I love that as I've paddled down river solo and did everything myself, no help needed. Not even for the 0.25 mile hike to the car after pulling out of the river. Not heavy to pull along my kayak on the cart at all. Just have to secure it properly and you can cover slight hills and inconsistent ground, no problem. Again, watch the YouTube videos out there. The one downside is that the wheels do NOT move well through sand and it is torture. Next time I'd probably ask around for some help instead!! Heck, probably could be better off dragging my plastic kayak through the sand!

Drags on soft sand
Good on hard surfaces but it drags on soft sand. My kayak is 90lbs, maybe 100. Feels like I'm dragging over 150lbs in the sand. Quality Feels good, it's stable enough, easy to use and light. It's just not meant for the soft sand. Should've kept my old wheels.

Great set of portage wheels- a great value as well
I have never owned the name brand version of this product, but at least than half the price I can't imagine anything working better than this. The product is easy to assemble and breaks down for transportation & flat storage when not in use. The dual straps on front and rear of the pads will secure. Kayaks and canoes with no slipping during use. Some users mentioned the hard plastic wheels will not do well in a Sandy Beach environment. I can see that, but for use on streets and groomed trails they work admirably. Product instructions mention this but I will reiterate as it is very important- the kickstand lever should point toward the rear of the device being transported. This allows the unit to come to rest without tilting up at the front of the boat. If you do it backwards with the stand pointing forward, it's likely to jam into the dirt, stopping your forward progress and possibly even breaking the lever. That's not a fault of the product, it's just the way it is designed and is intended to be used. I have stacked two kayaks on top of these wheels and the straps secured them just fine. Wish I could have used these in the BWCA Wilderness!
