Measure the circumference of the largest part of the child's head, (usually just above the eyebrows) in inches: Use a paper tape measure or a string and do not pull it too tight, loose like a hat would fit.

I purchased 2 of these helmets for my grandchildren to protect their heads riding their mini bike. They are a good product for a decent price. The helmet isn't to heavy and pretty easy to put on and take off. We taught them how to loosen and tighten the strap without taking it all apart so they can do it themselves their 8 and 10 yrs old. My grandsons seems to be a little tight I measured his head and it said he'd fit the biggest youth helmet. I'm afraid it won't be long and he'll need a bigger size. The kids say they can see well out of the shield. All in all we are very pleased with this product. I ordered a small and had to return it because it was putting pressure on her temples I moved to an XL and it was better but a little too loose. I had to add a thicker padding to make it snug.

We got the size that was suggested for my daughters head measurements but it was a little big. We are still keeping helmet for her to grow into. I suggest going a few inches down for measurements suggested size.

My kids love these. They look cool and keep junk off their faces when riding. They run small though so if your child has a really big head you may want to size up.
