Did what it was supposed to do. Had a 4" foam mattress topper to store. By 'not automatic', inserting the mattress, closing and applying vacuum is not enough to flatten it. You can't walk away, have a cup of coffee and come back and find it finished. I made sure that the valve was NOT over part of the mattress. As soon as I applied the vacuum, I could see the bag deflating. When I pressed on the foam, it, too, deflated. So I walked on the foam, first along one direction, back and forth, then at right angle direction, back and forth. Kinda like stomping grapes. To finish, I used the accessory wands from the vacuum like a rolling pin on pastry. Ended up with the queen-size foam topper in a roll less than 11" in diameter. Took no more than 45 minutes, I'd say. Like I said, not automatic, but did what it was supposed to do. ... show more

This is a thick plastic one which also requires careful handling, after all, it's a plastic! I had to order a replacement because the first one didn't work much for us, it was not holding up and I had to struggle hard to roll but the second/replacement one seems working fine and vaccumed better than the first one. Vacuuming: Its much better if you had a shop vac (not the cheap walmart one but something like stanley etc big one) which will speed up the process and you don't have to work hard. In my case, I used my BISSELL Cleanview Rewind 3675 from sams which I was worried about first by reading the comments about breaking the vacuum but I took the chance and I'm impressed with its suction power (lol I'm sounding like reviewing Bissell but to clarify a good home vacuum works as well). Mine is hybrid mattress with springs and to assist the vacuum, I kept jumping on it to air out and make it easy for the vacuum while wife was holding the hose. It didn't make the mattress paper thin but reduced the thickness down to 30% and was able to roll and tie up easily, after couple of days, I noticed, it's still holding up so I think I'm good. Now I know I should've taken some pictures and I still can but that's in my storage closet and I'm feeling lazy to move to take some pictures and post it, I'll do that later by editing my review. It works, probably will work better with memory foam mattress, if you have home vac, jump on it to air out easy to avoid the risk of breaking or something if you want. Purchased this to use for a full size very thick foam mattress. It’s a very dense mattress so I wasn’t sure it would hold the mattress. We managed to get into the bag, zipped up and rolled up to manageable size within 30 minutes. I have a Dyson and it did not fit on the suction hole. I used an old vacuum with a flat hose end and it worked great. One of the metal pieces on one of the straps was bent out of shape when we received it but it took two seconds to bend back together and it held strong when we wrapped it. The zipper is a huge pain to get closed because it’s such a long zipper and the slider was useless. I have since purchased a second one for a twin size mattress that I need to store temporarily. ... show more

Worked exactly as advertised and made my move a lot easier, but the plastic is very delicate. I don’t even know how the plastic got a hole in it, but it did, and the mattress started inflating prematurely. Had to throw it away after the one use (not a big deal since I only really needed it for the duration of the move anyway). I would recommend double bagging or using a blanket to cover the mattress up once the air is sucked out, and not sliding it against anything to prevent tearing. ... show more

I had to transport my mattress and as a college student, renting a U-haul was not an option. I researched alternative ways and honestly didn’t think this would work but it absolutely did! The bag works welk, but be sure to use a 6 hp or higher shop vac Getting the bag on or off the mattress is definately a one man job. Minimum of two people, four would be much better.

I received a free queen bed to review from another company. It was so stinky heavy and thick that I almost couldn't get it up the stairs while it was still in box. I live in an old cape cod so I knew it would not fit down the stairs. I was hesitant getting this bc the bed is a hybrid (foam/spring) and from what I read, it was not intended for spring beds. I'm so glad I tried it anyway bc it worked well enough. If possible, make sure you have a clean floor (preferably a carpet or rug) to put the bed on. I did not have either and I put a hole in the bag but still got it down the stairs. The bed expanded, I found the hole and taped it and vacuumed it again and was able to suck out air better than first time but found another hole repeated the process 2 more times. This time it lasted for awhile but last I checked it was expanding. I needed to get a bed out my house and the bag was a life saver for that but isn't thick enough to keep it from getting tiny punctures. Thankfully the person it's going to has a truck or we would have to keep looking for holes. ... show more
