I just replaced my 2013 MacBook Air to the newest one, and needed a new cover/protector. I loved my old BookBook case and never had a single complaint. I ordered this one since the newer MacBook Airs are no longer available in 11". The leather quality is just as lovely, and the I like the hidden folder detail, but the cover, though specified for a 13" Air is much too big. There is nothing to hold the laptop in place while it's open so it slides around while typing and, when you try and close it, the "bungee hinges" keep it from closing fully so it has to be zipped to be secure. Otherwise, it does not hold the laptop. I found this out the hard way when I picked it up closed but unzipped and my brand new Air fell out and is now marred. I'm just sick about that. Zipping and unzipping it is a huge hassle. I know people will say I should have been more careful with an expensive computer, and I should have been. BUT, with my original BookBook, I was able to close it temporarily and know my laptop was protected. You could also open the cover and laptop at the same time as they were connected, but there's nothing like that in the new version. Because the laptop shifts around in the too big case, it is also difficult to open. For my needs, it is practically useless so back it goes. I have owned BookBook cases for all of my apple devices for years now. I have always loved their products and been willing to pay premium prices for them. I just bought a new MacBook M1 and needed a new case, as the BookBook case for my older MacBook was too large. The case arrived and how things have changed. Quality has gone down tremendously--no longer a great leather feel--the new case's "leather" is very thin and has a paper-like feel. But the very worst part is the design--it is VERY flawed. Instead of two stretchy band holders to slip the top part of the MacBook into, it has been changed to a flimsy elastic cord whose only purpose seems to be to keep the front and back parts of the BookBook case in an upright position when open. This little cord broke on only the second day of use. Ridiculous. A HUGE waste of money. I STRONGLY recommend purchasing a different type of case! ... show more

This is my third Twelve South purchase. I buy them for all my Apple devices. This is looks and feels so luxurious. It has the beautiful smell of quality real leather, it soft to the touch. It is slightly distressed look of an old book so if you encounter any scrapes with it, it won't detract from the look. It is very easy to use and fits the latest MacBook Pro 2021 perfectly. As with my previous BookBook for my old MacBook Pro, this will be very durable and keep your MacBook safe while travel with it. It is soft inside and the top can be raised up and you can keep it in the case while you use your MacBook. If you're looking for a case that attaches directly to the MacBook, this case will not do that. I have mine MacBook in a hard case shell because sometimes I don't want to carry it in my work bag. It is a heavy case so it will add more weight than the covers you attach directly to the case. But the weight represents how durable it is. I fly fairly often and though it adds extra weight it means I don't have to worry about it being bumped or scratched when I put it in a bin for X Ray at the airport. I can't recommend this case enough. It is pricey but so is a MacBook and you can make sure your Mac Book is secure when you travel with it! ... show more

First off, I clicked "This item may be available for less from other sellers" where I had several choice of "repackaged", "slightly damaged" etc... sold by Amazon warehouse. I chose a repackaged but not damaged item and received a damaged but presumably in original packaging so.... It's awesome. I'm so happy I sprung for this after already finding just the right bag for my new M1 MacBook Pro with a front pouch that holds ALL the stuff I travel with: Charger, SSD drives, endless adapters, etc. That was an Amazon Recommended $20 bag and I love it but something was missing. Luxury and Home Storage. I don't need to lug that bag with everything in it wherever my beautiful new MacBook goes and when I leave the house I just want to slip it under a cushion or behind something to be out of sight. I just realized I'm typing this review while my laptop is in it's new Twelve South Bookbook V2...and I didn't even notice. What I mean is: unlike a hardshell that irritates my palms, this zipper is soft and falls out of the way, while the laptop is set back a bit. I like the suspension elastic that pulls the case closed but the MacBook screen holds open nicely...shutting the laptop in the case is easy. I can't say how this will hold up. Foreseeing that it's leather and I am rough on everything I knew that my will be aesthetically "damaged" in know time so I didn't mind risking it for 30% off. I'm very happy I helped Amazon give this product a second life. (it came with a thank you note) Yes, mine had damage: The binder was worn through the dye on the high spots and had a spot exactly on the front middle..and maybe a little signs of gentle scuffing along the binder. In terms of 'damage' this is nothing. It will happen to all of ours in a month but guess what? I took a teeny tiny bit of LP and touched the spot and to my absolute amazement - I have a brand new BookBook V2 for 30% off. Don't forget, this is nothing more than a pair of fine shoes flattened out so a little shoe polish, Obenauf's or mink oil can preserve, alter, repair.. I gave it 4 stars because I'm afraid to give it 5 since it's new but I can tell you I'm glad I decided to get this, it suits my style, it's nice REAL leather, it's pretty cool and I do believe it is discreet...it'd be better if I had a bookshelf wouldn't it. Also, the real reason for a star down is: Instead of one listed as damaged, I chose one listed as packaging damaged or not original package and I received the opposite. Truly pleased and don't care as I expected worse. I totally see how someone wouldn't have liked this but I can almost guarantee they've got a spot on their 'perfect when delivered' product of soft genuine leather. I can't wait til mine looks used while I enjoy my new M1. Cheers. ... show more
