I have had this in constant use since I got it two months ago. I am a complete novice with tumbling and our first batch turned out great. Use and setup was easy, with checks after each grit run I have had no issues. It is a bit noisy but it is a rock tumbler so that should be expected. I am sure at some point I will get a better larger tumbler but this has been great to learn with. ... show more

Edit: I cannot get steel shot to move around in the barrel. If I add lighter steel shot, the piece doesn’t get hit. If I add the heavier stuff it doesn’t seem to hit the piece either. I guess now I understand why Lortone doesn’t sell this size? Further, the company charges a 20% restocking fee for wrongfully advertised machinery. Don't waste your time and money, this is crap. I want my 20% back, too. This is a headache. *********** Bought this because I needed a bigger tumbler for larger jewelry pieces. Bought 2lbs of steel shot for the barrel. When it arrived, I Unpacked the machine, worked hard to remove the metal lid, which was almost glued on, and then filled it. It had a light piece of jewelry, the 2lbs of steel shot, and was filled approx 1/3 with water. The machine struggled to move the barrel at all. It squeaked and didn’t turn for a while. I removed more water, then placed it back on. Whether it was expected that I spend a bunch of time to adjust it to get it moving again, I don’t know, but I own a Lortone (the standard) and never dealt with the sound or weight struggle this machine had off the bat. It also felt more flimsy compared to Lortone. I would NOT recommend this machine for jewelry. Not at all. If Lortone offered a larger barrel, I wouldn’t have even considered this brand. It’s unfortunate that the price is so close to a Lortone, but the quality is so much less. ... show more

This product is just fantastic. I have been using it for well over a month constantly making sea glass and it only takes three days or less to make the glass. It has been running 24/7 all this time with no problems. A great machine for the price. It took a long time to research the one I wanted. Those who had negative comments about this item don't know what they are doing or are not mechanically inclined. This device is simple to use and is a work horse. Sorry but this unit might be the worst tumbler I've ever worked with. 1) Has a hard time spinning even when underloaded and oiled 2) When it did spin, it was OK for the first 2 stages, but wow, the results for stages 3 and 4 were really disappointing (especially stage 4, even using aluminum oxide barely added a shine to the rocks after 9 days). 3) Insanely difficult to open Hard pass on this, guys. Well my tumbler came earlier than expected that was a plus. I followed the instructions before using, good thing too, the belt was off and after making adjustments its very quiet. The only thing I didn't like about this tumbler is the inner rubber lid was loose fitting and the outer lid did not fit it was too small.
