I was very surprised at the quality of this futon. The wood is great, all predrilled holes lined up, hardware went in easily, and the mattress very comfortable. The instructions are step by step pictures and very easy to follow. I do have experience assembling furniture but believe most people would be able to assemble this futon. The only drawback is converting from a bed back to a sofa with the mattress on it. I’m sure eventually I’ll get a hang of it. ... show more

Beautiful piece of furniture!! Great quality and easy directions/assembly, and super easy to switch from couch to bed/vice versa. Rating 4 stars because, as I've seen on other sites, the frame is much more gray than brown as was the mattress, and because the hardware was broken open and missing a 2 critical parts. Fortunately I was able to pick up similar hardware at Home Depot to make it work since I didn't care to call customer service for a single bolt and nut. Very good assembling instructions. I was able to do everything by myself except for the last step when I needed two extra hands to help me install the mattress fame into the sofa arms. This step is also the only step for which I had to watch the video. The color coding and pictures of the written instructions made the whole process very easy. Simple, good looking frame. Nice and firm mattress. Time will tell if it wears out well. Easy to turn into a bed but hard to turn back into a sofa. Very satisfied so far. ... show more

I bought this as a bed/couch for a basement guest bedroom. It went together in just under an hour, which would have been faster/easier with two people. The instructions were clear and all the hardware was well labelled and packaged individually in blister packs. The frame is heavy duty and looks great. The mattress (which comes rolled up in it's own box) is comfortable for both sitting and sleeping. The folding part wants to spring back open, so you might want to get a non-slip pad for it. Transition from couch to bed is easy. Going from bed to couch is a little more difficult. Also keep in mind that you'll have to pull the couch away from the wall before converting it into a bed.
