I've had other coffee from Tubbs so decided to try their Costa Rican Tesoros Volcanicos whole bean coffee. It's medium roast coffee from the west valley, brunch and tarrazu regions of Costa Rica. I'm fond of Costa Rican coffee so was excited to try this one. I like Tubbs' packaging because it tells you a lot about the coffee, including roast level (3/5 for this coffee), the variety, how it was processed, where it came from, its flavor profile in-cup, and the roasting date (on the bottom). I had the grinder adjusted to our 'default' setting and ground out a shot. Perfect 30s pull first time out, and that shot was incredible. Bright with caramel notes, it was extremely expressive. In the cup with my double size americano and cream it sort of got lost, however. I think this coffee is perfect as a straight espresso shot or as the base for milk drinks with not a lot of extra liquid like macchiatos. This one shines on its own.

This whole bean coffee is very tasty! The bag had a strong, enticing scent when it first arrived and the beans are quite fresh. This coffee grinds up well in my electric and my manual burr grinder, and makes a coffee that is wonderful when either hot or iced, plain black or dressed up with sweetener and creamer. The coffee's nots of caramel, milk chocolate, and blood orage are distinct and, and the flavors meld with the coffee beautifully. This is a very delicious coffee! It's not only robust in flavor and aroma but the consistency is super smooth and non-acidic as it passes over my taste pallette. All the beans are whole and intact and I didn't see any slivers, shards or broken beans which is great quality control(see images). They grind easy in my burr grinder and the cappuccino I get from the coffee is fantastic with a silky foam topper. Plus the bag has a resealable zipper for retaining the freshness. Nice and easy to recommend, thank you.

This was a tasty dark roast whole bean coffee. I prefer getting whole bean so I can grind them freshly as needed. I found this roast to be a little lighter than my regular everyday dark roast but the flavor was still there. Very little bitterness, lots of fruity and chocolatey undertones. I appreciate that the roast date is actually on the bag. This is a 12 ounce bag for $18 at the time of this review, not a full pound/16oz... it's getting harder and harder to find coffee in 1 pound bags anymore, manufacturers assume we won't notice the bags getting smaller and the price is staying the same.

Very good beans. This coffee ground nicely in my grinder and definitely tastes great. I loke my coffee bold and strong and this fits the bill for me. While $1.50 per ounce is not on the cheap end or the ultra-expensive end, at least the coffee is not on the cheap end either. Overall, I like it and will look for a larger bag next time.

This is fresh and tasty coffee. I tried some of the other flavor profiles from Tubbs and have enjoyed all their coffees including this one. Can't seem to go wrong with any Tubbs coffee. I did find this one to be a slightly stronger flavor than some other medium roasts, but still smooth with very little bitterness.
