  • Good Travel Pillow Once You Get the Hang of It
Color: Grey
It took me a few attempts to figure out how to use this travel pillow correctly. Initially, I didn't put it on properly, and it dug into my neck, making me almost return it. However, after practicing how to position it, I discovered it fits perfectly on my neck, supported by my shoulder with no effort. It requires some adjustment before committing to it. Once I got the fit right, I became an immediate fan. I should mention that I am a petite person, but my husband is not. He is also a fan but he also had to take some time to figure out how the position the support appropriately. I love that it is lightweight and doesn't take up much room in my backpack. It holds my head upright and allows for a slight angle to either side that you put the support on. The fleece material makes it soft around the neck, and surprisingly, it doesn't get hot, which was a concern for me. I used this on a 6-hour redeye flight and was able to sleep a bit on the plane for the first time in my life. Although it is expensive for what it is, I recommend giving it a try, as its functionality seems worth the cost. ... show more

  • Great with a tweak
Color: Grey
Just used this flying to Vietnam and back (3 days of travel time). From a 5'9" guy's point of view who has what I think is a normal length neck and not perfectly broad shoulders. I wanted to give this a three star but gave it four because I will use it again as well as my wife, all of the other product alternatives are so terrible, and with 10 of us on this last trip I have tried nearly all of the top sellers except the j pillow. Pro's: small, very light, soft, washable!, keeps mouth from hanging open, doesn't push your head forward like a horseshoe/memory foam/micro bead pillow (no matter how thin they claim to be they still do), doesn't slowly deflate/compress like a horseshoe/memory foam/micro bead pillow, not hot on an airplane but still warm, good in in side and front positions with tweak. Con's: It needs to be tweaked... simply took the folded airplane blanket and placed it between my shoulder and Trtl to give it more height for my neck. Without this adjustment my neck was borderline leaning further then I was comfortable, worked better for my wife who's 5'5". I personally think this would be an unmatched product if it came in different sizes AND they bend was made to be a little straighter then 90 degrees. When my shoulder slopes down and it compresses slightly it is uncomfortable until I raise it up with a blanket. Out of the box I believe this is made for someone 5'5" or smaller. Other people's findings: Some people put the scarf across their nose and mouth to block outside germs... I found this to be uncomfortable with all that hot breath and my nose is already built to filter since this held my mouth shut. Some were upset that they can't perfectly wear their large noise canceling headphones... I have them and no it wasn't perfect but worked and it would practically impossible to get enough support to hold your head up if the device didn't come up higher on the side by your ear. Bottom line is the tweak was minor and I'd buy it again because it the best option out there even with it's issues. It could greatly benefit from coming in different sizes. ... show more

  • Finally, a travel pillow that works!
Color: Grey
I've worked for a major airline for the past 20 years, so I travel a lot for business and leisure. I feel like I've tried every kind of travel pillow there is. None have worked. I cannot stand those horseshoe pillows that push your neck forward, or the micro-bead pillows that don't support your head good enough/high enough when you lean your head sideways. So when a friend told me about the TRTL pillow, I was intrigued. It seemed to be just the solution I needed! I ordered a grey one just before a trip from the US to Europe, and tested it out. I'm pleased to say, the TRTL pillow works as advertised. The material is super soft and I love that it's washable. The plastic supports inside the pillow (scarf, really) were strong enough to work well, but still a tiny bit pliant. It doesn't fold up completely flat in your bag, but it really doesn't take up much space - and the video online even shows how you can attach it to the outside of a bag/backpack if you need to. Unlike some reviewers here, I didn't think the velcro stuck to anything that it wasn't supposed to. It does take a little bit of practice to wrap the 'scarf' just the right way to make sure the supports are in the best position and it fits snugly, but it's not difficult at all. I'm 5'11" and have a very long neck, and I thought the TRTL held my head at just the right angle to sleep. My travel buddy is more like 5'4" and she also had no problems with hers. Some say that the material is too hot - I think that's just a matter of personal preference. I find planes to usually be too cold (airlines keep the temperature cold vs. warm to reduce airsickness), so I thought the added warmth from the 'scarf' of the TRTL pillow was nice. Did I get a whole bunch of hours of fabulous sleep because of the TRTL? No, but that's not because of the pillow - it's because I'm tall and main-cabin airline seats are torture chambers, so I couldn't get my legs comfortable enough to fall asleep. BUT, for once in thousands of miles that I've flown, my neck lolling about with no place to comfortably rest was NOT the problem. I definitely think the TRTL is the style of travel pillow that makes the most sense, and is the most ergonomically correct, of any travel pillow I've used. I'm going to be taking this on every long-haul flight I have from now on and have already recommended it to friends and colleagues in the travel industry. As an aside, the customer service from TRTL Customer Care was fantastic. They wrote to thank me for my purchase, sending helpful tips for its care and use, including a video, some picture tutorials, and some FAQs. Then they later wrote to ask how I liked the product, and to ensure I didn't have any problems using it. They definitely seem concerned about the quality of their product and their customers being satisfied with it. Overall, this is a thumbs up for me. ... show more
