The aluminum post is easily cut so you can get the perfect fit. I had to have mine at a slight angle because of the layout of my boat - but it is designed to be used at several different angles, just pull the pin on the bottom and adjust the angle until you find something that works and then lock it down. I used a sawzall to cut down the mount for the size I needed, and it cut light butter. I have a really long shaft on my trolling motor so it can really get to bouncing in rough water, or rough roads. I am using this trolling motor support on my inflatable kayak. It is very light and very heavy duty, perfect for what I need it for! This mount is helping me to stabilize the torque while the motor is in use. I like it so much that I plan on getting another one because I am using an oversized motor.
