  • really nice cat shelter
Surprising part is this was pretty much already built. the doors and everything were all put together in each wall/panel. All you have to do is screw the 4 wall panels together, and put on the roof, then insert the floors. really easy. It's very roomy. I am placing this on a covered porch, the materials are very thin and it's a very soft wood, my opinion is it would not hold up very long in direct weather. perhaps if you put a few more coats of paint or something, and put it up on blocks, might help; but under my porch roof, I expect it will last a long time. ... show more

  • Great house for the workshop cats. Great house for the workshop cats.
I adopted a couple of shop/barn cats and wanted to give them a place they could feel safe. I had seen this house on several sites but at a much higher price, so was thrilled when I found this here. While the materials are not as sturdy as I would have liked, the product assembled very easily. I am a 50ish, 5’1 female and was able to assemble this on my own in less than an hour. I did put it up on a low bench just to keep bugs or other from also calling this home. Cats arrived today and they immediately took too it and are curled up on beds. One thing I may do is actually line it with a rubberized drawer liner just for added comfort and make it a bit easier to clean. I did have one small latch piece fall off so hardware isn’t really all that great either. I may have to replace that at some point. ... show more

  • Cute but not worth the price Cute but not worth the price
UPDATE: do not get thing you get ANY bit of rain because the minute you do the entire house will mold. We just started getting quite a bit of rain here in Florida, and despite airing the house out every time it still molds. And I’m talking about pink and green mold everywhere like I’ve never seen before. I’ve tried cleaning it with vinegar and baking soda etc but it comes back once it rains again. Unfortunately now it’s passed my 30 days for a refund. I should have just returned the full thing the first time I called with issues about the sturdiness of it and how the acres didn’t fit and the shelves were cheap and broke off the moment our cat jumped on it. Anywho, it’s cute but not made for outdoors which is what I bought it for. Now my cats have nothing to take shelter in for the last few a weeks and I have to come out of my money to figure out another shelter for them. Meanwhile I spent almost $200 on this house for us to only get not even a good two months out of, crazy!!!!! There were broken pieces like the pieces that hold the outside shelves up, they were just thrown into the bottom of the box with no protective wrap. There were also a few pieces of cracked wood. Once put together it’s very unsteady and wobbly so I’d recommend wood glue to hold it all together better, some of the screws weren’t long enough so I had to replace them, and one of the outside shelves that the cats stand on to go in and out of the windows have already started to break off after only a WEEK because it’s not strong enough to hold up a normal sized cat, it is not worth $200 at all, it’s cute BUT very flimsy and not as great of quality. ... show more

  • Perfect Cat House Great Customer Service Perfect Cat House Great Customer Service
I recommend using wood glue as you put it together. Especially the the platforms. Makes it much sturdier. This order started out not good. I received a text that Fedx delivered on front porch. No package. So, I waited a couple of days before I looked into the problem. It had been delivered to St Johns Fla. On a Friday I called Amazon customer service told them the problem. Service rep very friendly. After verifying the misplaced order she told me how Amazon would handle the claim and offer refund or new order. I asked for a new order. I don’t know how Amazon did it, magic I guess, put the next morning, Saturday, the 60 lbs very large packed was on our front porch. Now if that ain’t customer service at its best!!!!! ... show more

  • Nice Kitty Condo
"I was on the hunt for the perfect outdoor retreat for my cats when I came across the Trixie Outdoor Cat House. Its charming three-story design instantly won me over, and I knew my outdoor kitties would love the multiple levels, doors, and windows. When we set it up, it was clear my cats were in heaven, exploring every nook and cranny of their new home. However, as the temperatures started to drop, I realized that the cat house wasn't insulated, which left my furry friends feeling a bit too chilly for comfort. It was a bit disappointing since insulation is crucial for outdoor pet shelters, especially during the cold months. But I wasn't ready to give up on this cozy little haven just yet. To keep my cats warm, I decided to add some outdoor pet heating pads. This addition made a huge difference, and now my kitties can snuggle up and stay toasty even when it's cold outside. Despite this setback, the Trixie Outdoor Cat House remains a hit with my cats, and they love spending time in it. The thoughtful design and spacious layout make it an inviting and comfortable space for them. In conclusion, while the Trixie Outdoor Cat House has its flaws, such as the lack of insulation, it's still a fantastic choice for anyone looking to provide a cozy and secure outdoor environment for their cats. With a little extra effort, like adding heating pads, it can become the perfect retreat for your furry friends. My cats and I are overall very happy with this purchase, and hope Trixie considers improving the insulation in future models." I forgot to mention it was easy to put together as I was screwing in the screws I added a little wood glue just to make it more sturdy As the wood isn't very thick all and all the functionality is good. When we opened it there wasn't a bad smell. This is a great investment if you have outdoor cats or even to help feral kitties stay warm in winter. ... show more

  • Good concept, poor quality.
Our cats like the house. We added in a K&H extreme weather heating pad to help keep the cats warm. Assembly was fairly easy, but putting the ledges on was a pain in the butt since you have to reach in across the entire length of the house to install. You must have a friend to help you, and even then the screws are awkward to place and easily split out. I like that I can see inside to every level easily to see what the cats are doing. The full length door is super convenient. So why three stars? The hardware is of very, very poor quality. We’ve had the house outside for a month, and all of the latches are rusty. The wood door on the third level (not the plastic one) opens the wrong direction for the cats to enter conveniently, as the door won’t stay flat against the house and ends up blocking the cats when they try to jump from the second floor ledge. The paint already looks like it’s a year old. Would I pay $250 for this again? Nope. I like the design, but the manufacturer is cutting a lot of corners. The house is unlikely to last very long without being repainted and replacing all the hardware. ... show more

  • Great moderately priced cat house Great moderately priced cat house
I have 5 cats that are 7-10 pounds. They all love it and fit easily inside. We have cat warmers on two floors and cut small holes in back for cords. None of them have used bottom floor plastic door. It could be a little sturdier but okay for the price.

  • Could be great, but...
First thing coming out of the box two of the brackets were broken. Had to buy wood glue for them. Then while assembling it was clear the wood is fragile and would not last long outside before falling apart. This item is far too expensive for such cheat material and so poorly constructed. Thankfully I plan to use it indoors so that should extend its life, even though it is intended for outdoor use. After getting all of the walls put together I laid the bottom level floor in for it to fall through. It is advertised as a floating floor, which it would have if the ledge wasn't missing from the back wall panel allowing the floor to fall out. Because of this I had to search all over for a way to fix it. Thankfully I had a strip of small trim for baseboards I nailed in to give it the missing ledge and hold up the ground floor plank. The second level floor fit fine. All ledges were there and even. Unfortunately the top floor rocked and tilted inward at the slightest touch because the supporting ledge on the back panel was over an inch lower than the rest. Here I had to put nails in the ledge leaving them about an inch from being flush to support the top floor panel and keep it steady. Nothing is square so all of the doors stick and you have to shift the weight of the unit in whatever direction it needs to go according to which door you're trying to open or close. I put it together outside and noticed sunlight shining through several slats where the walls should be solid. This was the case for all four walls. Even charging half of what is wanted for this item is too much. The materials are extremely cheat as well as the already assembled parts missing parts and not even. Especially if you want to use this outside I advise you not to get this. It will be a huge waste of nearly $300. ... show more
