To give some reference for my rating, when I enjoy a margarita at home I usually do two shots of Cabo Blanco and one of Ghost. So, I'm not a fan of the darker ones. I'm also not a sipping tequila person, so I cannot vouch for that taste. While not as spicy as Ghost, it does have a bit of spiciness. It also does not have the taste of the darker tequilas, if you are looking for that. But it is a nice, refreshing alternative for when I need to drive later. I've been suggesting it to my favorite restaurants as an additional choice to their spicy margaritas, so that I can enjoy more than one while out. Hopefully distributors on the east coast will start carrying it. I'm hoping that he might do a more spicy alternative in the future.

Trejo's Spirits alcohol Free Tequila is awful. If I could give it less then 1, I would. It tastes like water with pepper added. It is just awful. Don't order this product if you are looking for a Tequila alternative. Terrible.

Start with the mindset that this is a whiskey alternative NOT substitute. Color is a little cloudy, fragrance is pleasant, somewhat floral. Tasting a small amount neat, there are early notes of vanilla and honey with strong intermediate taste of clove (a little more than I prefer, but okay). The finish had flavors of cinnamon with a light peppery burn that simulated alcohol. A standard jigger over ice in a highball glass topped all the way with ginger ale made a nice refreshing 'whiskey and ginger'. Although, because of the strong spice flavors, I had to reduce the volume by half in my Irish cream recipe (very good in coffee). On to more cocktail recipes! I compared this to another product with similar review ratings (NkD) and found Trejo's to be superior. Update: this product makes a nice beverage by adding about 60ml. to a 1 liter bottle carbonated soda stream water.

I finished the bottle with a group of friends. Both straight and mixed. It was enjoyed by all. I really enjoyed the pepper kick burn as it goes down. Mixed with coke, and water and flavored water. As a non alcoholic drink, this is the best that I have tried. I have two more bottles on the way. I think way too many people are trying to hard to compare it to whiskey or bourbon. This has a great smell when you open the bottle. And a great taste and a satisfying finish. I will always have this in stock at my house.

I read the mixed reviews but thought I would try this whiskey alternative as it had the best ratings. It is awful, like sipping cinnamon flavored mouthwash and smelled like a cheap cleaning product, and was delayed in promised shipping. I would have given it a 0 if allowed. I have tried Heineken 0 beer and it tastes just like beer. I would love my money back but I don't think they will, so it was a bad gamble that I lost.

Based on the highest review of any of these alcohol, free bourbons, which was only three stars I was hoping for something at least mediocre. I get that you can’t expect this to taste like real bourbon this unfortunately totally misses the Marc. It’s watery and has very little flavor of it’s own, and has no sweetness of a bourbon. Now with that said there is hope. I don’t think whoever formulated this ever actually tasted real bourbon. Now I should not have to doctor a $30 product but that’s exactly what I did and it comes a heck of a lot closer when I’m done here the ingredients I added. Black molasses ground allspice, 2 teaspoons of white vinegar and a tablespoon of vegetable glycerin. With this it becomes remarkably palatable it’s never going to be a straight drink, but putting it in a Coke or some other bourbon drink it’s pretty damn close you see the problem here however to get there, I had to spend 30 bucks on the product and then add to it but maybe the manufacturer will take this comment and make some changes to their formula again whoever’s formulating this needs to actually taste bourbon and then go back and taste this and start adding things.

I don’t usually leave reviews but having come back today to replenish my bar stock and seeing reviews for Trejo’s Tequila Alternative all over the map I felt good to add my 2 cents- I love the flavor. Have been enjoying it in Bloody Marias and other cocktails for almost a year now. If you’re new to non-alcoholic spirits Trejo’s is well worth trying.
