I searched for weeks before my trip to Italy for a good sturdy purse. I am very pleased with this. Lots of pockets, great quality. Good length. Sturdy and good zippers. I would highly recommend this for someone who wanted a secure, sturdy purse to hold your wallet, and other things. I had candy, chapstick, lotion, wipes and sunglasses and still had room!

I bought 3 other Travelon bags for my trip to Europe and returned them all for a refund because they were too small. I couldn't fit my wallet, phone, a small umbrella, my prescription sunglasses, kleenex, chapstick and a few other minor items in the other Travelon bags I returned. What I like about the Essential Messenger Bag is that is can hold all the items I just listed and is not large or bulky. What I don't like about it is what many have said, which is the narrowness of the opening of the bag. Its very awkward, tight and small. I wish they increased the width of the bag by an inch and widened the opening of this bag by an inch. Despite its flaws, I am keeping this bag. This is the third Travelon bag I've bought and kept. The first one I bought is my favorite, which I bought in 2017 and Travelon no longer makes. It was horizontal in its configuration, is 8 inches tall, 12 inches wide and 4.5 inches deep and holds a ton of stuff, including my Kindle, phone, wallet, 2 pairs of glasses, cash, pens, and a bunch of other stuff yet isn't bulky. If I could find that bag from 2017, I'd buy 3 of them.

LOVE this purse! I need a travel purse that was thin enough to pack on during the plane flight but held enough stuff when used for daily excursions. This one fits the bill! I can hold my beanie and gloves, a water bottle, a notebook, my wallet and phone. It's high quality material with metal throughout the bottom and handles to ward off pursecutters. There are clips at the zippers that ward off pickpockets and can be clipped and unclipped quickly and smoothly. I typically wear this across my body under my coat. I wear a lot of natural colors so this beigey-gray-brown blended nicely with every outfit.

I don't usually leave long, detailed reviews, but this time I have to. I used this purse/bag on a 3-week trip to 2 countries in Europe, and it was one of the best travel purchases I made. I just ordered another to have as backup in the (apparently unlikely) event this one gets messed up. Highly recommend. Pros: - Lightweight and comfortable: I wore it crossbody, and it was lightweight enough that I forgot I was wearing it. Comfortable strap. - Durable: lasted 3 weeks through 9 cities, 4 train rides, several crowded subway rides, countless bus rides, many miles of walking and hiking, and 2 kids pulling and tugging on it. -- the strap held (no stretching, well reinforced), no damage to the fabric, and all the snaps and fasteners are still working great. It went through a lot of wear. The only minor damage was when one of the threads on the front pocket got ripped (rough handling while carrying a kiddo), but it didn't unravel and lasted 2 more weeks intact. -- Secure: I felt 100% better on crowded subways & buses in Italy since it would take some extra maneuvering to open the pockets. You have to slide/unfasten the fastener before unzipping. It's easy for the wearer to get used to. -- Roomy: It easily held my wallet, the holder for 3 passports, regular-sized sunscreen, extra change, small hand sanitizer bottle, a few hand wipes, and miscellaneous kid items (acorns, small souvenirs, etc.) -- Didn't get dirty after spills, getting dragged across ground, etc... just brushed/washed dirt off. I'm a fan.

This bag sits tight to the body, has a front, back and main compartment to keep everything from a phone or camera to credit cards, cash and a spare light sweater or jacket if they can fold up small. Let’s face it, you don’t need to carry every single thing that you own when you go out for a day in a new city. What do you want is to have your phone, cash and credit cards secure. You can lock the zipper on the top and front pockets. The back pocket will be against your body. This is an absolutely perfect day purse to wear over one shoulder and have it rest against the other hip. I think it’s a great investment and I’m glad I purchased it.

I got this purse mainly because the straps are slash resistant as is the bag itself. It’s a crossbody so that makes it easier to keep on my body. It looks secure and blends to my body which in my mind makes criminals less likely to want to try to snatch it. (Fingers crossed) it’s not really high fashion but right now I prefer the security. The wallet pouch is resistant to scanners and scammers. Would be great for vacation or traveling in any place that may not be the safest place, aka anywhere in the USA these days. There are lots of pockets to store things in, it’s versatile in the fact you can wear it crossbody or on the shoulder. The straps are adjustable and you may even be able to tighten it around the waist. Each zipper has a clasp so if you’re in a crowded area it would be difficult for someone to casually unzip your bag to take anything out.
