  • Tools? Meditation
Format: Kindle
Skimmed through the book. The format: a pictorial explanation in simplistic terms as to what happens in different parts of the brain as a result of certain "stimuli"/"events". The Toolbox mentioned in the title is different techniques of (can you guess?!) - Meditation! Top down (Brain focused), Bottom up (Body focused). Pick up any book from any "health", "spiritual", "motivational" expert, what's the common theme? "Meditation", focused breathing/visualization. Are there any more books needed on the topic? Not really. Still an interesting read if you are interested in learning what's going on inside of you. You may forget after a while, but good to know. Why not focus more on just getting in the habit of Meditation. Read 10000s of pages to resort back to this centuries old practice. ... show more

  • Best trauma-informed book I have bought so far!!!
Format: Paperback
I am a newly licensed therapist with many clients who struggle from trauma-related symptoms. I have bought so many books on trauma, anxiety, and coping skills and this is by far the BEST purchase I've made in regards to having descriptions, tips, scripts, and handouts to give to clients for so many different coping skills in managing trauma. I love how it has a box for each tool that specifically tells you what symptoms are addressed - below the box it tells you how to explain the benefits of utilizing these tools to your clients for managing symptoms. I absolutely cannot wait to use this book with my clients and it will definitely be a staple that I use in my office! ... show more

  • Clear information & tangible tools for trauma treatment
Format: Paperback
I really like this book. I have read other books that explain trauma that were helpful but this workbook explains trauma in a way that’s easier to understand. The book gives a flow to treatment and where to begin vs just giving a bunch of suggestions. Also the worksheets are concrete tools you can do in sessions with accompany psychoeducation that clients can understand. It doesn’t go over your head & that’s so important. Happy I made this purchase. ... show more

This is one of the best books I have found for trauma. My issues is that despite the back cover of the book saying that there are downloadable handouts, that doesn't seem to really be the case. So far I have not been able to locate any information/instructions on how to obtain the downloadable forms. ... show more
