Description

Gear Box Transfer Case Servo Actuator Motor Repair Gear For: BMW X3 E83 X5 E53 X6 E71 X5 E70. Problem: Common on the 4x4 BMW Transfer Cases the gear inside wears out causing it to not function correctly. Symptoms: Clicking from the transfer case, 4x4 light, brake and ABS lights liight up. 4x4 inactive. Juddering from motor. Solution: Our new uprated gear using Carbon Fibre to ensure that the gear not wear. Attached to the transfer case is an actuator motor, within in this there is a poor quality Nylon plastic gear, turned by a metal worm gear. Over time the Nylon wears down and strips and leads to the gear not turning. This results in the symptoms noted above. BMW does not supply this part as a spare, they will provide a complete replacement motor, which will fail again because of the Nylon gear.

  • Fit and Works - No more ABS, brake, or 4x4 lights (2006 X5 3.0)
Install was pretty easy except for the c-clip removal/installation, but no fault of this part - it fit perfectly. Time will tell, but it should outlast the car (~240k miles right now). I didn't realize until I got in there that the original gear was only worn on one side and theoretically I could have just rotated 90-180 degrees, but I like the peace of mind of a completely new part. ... show more

  • fixed the evil trifecta on my e70
The motor gear went out on my already second transfer case actuator motor in my 2007 BMW E70 @240K miles. This time I decided just to replace the evil gear and not swap out the entire actuator motor. Drilled little hole in the corner of the upper plate to lever it out, replaced the gear, put everything back together, and the trifecta and reduced power went away. The most annoying part of this entire operation was having to partially drop the exhaust so that the transfer case bracket could be wiggled out of the way enough to get access to the four E10 bolts holding actuator motor. A 3/8 flex head ratchet was perfect for getting the bolts out. ... show more

  • Graphite composite material- use with a good quality grease.
Easy to install. This is my 2nd one however I do have 160k miles on the X3. I think the stock one went out at 90k. The replacement was supposedly the upgraded graphite composite. I doubt it. This one appears to be mite robust. I guess we’ll need to wait another 60-90k miles;) For this great price and the fact that it is a simple DIY job, who really cares if it needs to be replaced again. That said, some people are going with the bronze gear. I believe that just might be overkill. ... show more

  • Saved $$$ using this gear to fix my problem in my BMW X3
I used this item to fix the transfer case problems in my X3. Had to pull the electronic box apart and replace this gear. Fairly easy to do and you can get directions from youtube. Would have cost upwards of $600 at BMW to have this repaired. Only a few dollars and an hour or two of time to save $600. If you hears sounds or grinding noises from under you car then research the Transfer Case Actuator Motor problem and replace this gear. ... show more

  • Replace that ground-up gear..
Great replacement to the OEM gear that was chewed up. I was glad to find this alternative to having to spend $1K for the whole assembly actuator part. It was neat to find ways to replace only the failed part though multiple internet videos and DIY instructionals. This part has held up over 10K miles later and still going strong. It fixed our 4x4 ABS error the SUV was having. Great replacement at a fair price. ... show more
