I just got this and haven’t gotten on the water yet with it. I generally don’t love it when folks post these kinds of reviews, but wanted to make sure to at least get some photos up highlighting one key point: as at least one other reviewer has noted, the net bag is different than the one in the product pictures, and addresses the concerns raised in earlier reviews about smaller fish slipping through the net. The current version has holes about the same size as on my Handy Pak net, and look to me to be about the same size as higher end nets too. I doubt the net bag material (or the thread tying the net bag on) is of comparable quality, but I’m balancing that against the fact that I’d need to buy six of these to get into the same cost range as a Fishpond or a Simms Daymaker or whatever. The specific dimensions of this net (long, narrower hoop combined with mid length handle under ~20”) don’t really exist much, and I wasn’t looking to spend $170 on a Fishpond Emerger (which is comparable in dimension), so as long as this thing doesn’t self destruct in a year I’d say it’s a pretty good option. UPDATE: I got out for an hour before work the other day. Handle length seems pretty ideal both for tucking into a belt/waist pack securely and for reaching down to net fish when I’m on shore rather than wading. Also feeling pretty good that I won’t loose anything through the net holes unless it’s really tiny. Can’t speak to durability yet. ... show more

The makers seemed to listen to the reviews that the netting material allowed small fish to fall through the netting. The netting material on the net I received was tighter than that pictured on the web post. Although, I have no idea why anyone needs to net a small fish.

You can’t beat the value here. Looks great, extremely functional, for a fraction of the cost of similar nets. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that there is 1 small rough spot on the wood. You can’t see it, and it doesn’t affect the durability.

Nice net for the price. Bought it for my young son because hooks kept getting stuck in cloth nets. The silicone netting pretty much eliminates that issues and is better for protecting slime coat of fish we plan to release.

Absolutely love this net. I have two others of the nylon type and I got so tired of catching a fish and then being unable to get the hook out of the net. This one is perfect. Good looking, light weight and has a stretchable lanyard with a quick disconnect. Highly recommended.

The net seems to be made very well. it's not a light net but that's probably because it's pretty big. It's about the size of a Fishpond Emerger net but I believe it weighs more. The rubber netting feels good but I think the size of the holes is too large. A 9" trout slipped through pretty easy.

This net is a terrific product at a great price! I have used it several times already. During my most recent fly-fishing trip, it came in handy when I was trying to land a larger-than-normal fish (carp). I am not sure I would have been able to get the fish into the kayak without it!
