  • Make sure to have the driver installed correctly
I use this wifi dongle on a Windows 10 machine. The dongle worked out of box without installing driver but I still downloaded driver from TP Link website and installed it. However I was really disappointed. The wifi connection is very unstable even when my laptop is only 10 ft away from the router with nothing but air in between. I contacted TP Link tech support and the representative asked to me check if the driver was installed correctly from Device Manager page. It turned out that even though I ran the driver installation program from TP Link, somehow the driver was not installed correctly. The device was shown as Realtek instead of TP Link. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver. This time it worked. A thumb up to TP Link's quick and available tech support. ... show more

  • WORKS LIKE A CHARM, LOVE IT - SO HAPPY TO BE ONLINE AGAIN.
AWESOME! IT WORKS LIKE CHARM. I HAVE AN OLD DELL INSPIRON 560 (8 YRS.OLD) AND FOR SOME REASON I LOST ACCESS TO THE INTERNET - I WORKED WITH 3 DELL TECHS AND VERIZON MY INTERNET CARRIER FOR HOURS AND NO ONE COULD GET ME BACK ONLINE. FINALLY, I DUMPED THE 3 DELL TECHS I WAS WORKING WITH AND TRIED A DIFFERENT DELL TECH AND HE TOLD ME TO JUST GET THIS USB WI-FI ADAPTER AND MY PROBLEMS WOULD BE SOLVED. MEANWHILE, THE OTHER TECHS HAD ME CLEAN OUT WINDOWS TEN AND RESET THE COMPUTER BACK TO FACTORY SETTING, WHICH DID NOT WORK IN GETTING BACK ONLINE AND I LOST WINDOWS LIVE MAIL, WHICH I CAN'T GET BACK AND LOVED. THIS WAS THE BEST AND EASIEST EMAIL TO WORK WITH - CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY MICROSOFT WON'T SUPPORT IT ANYMORE. BAD IDEA ON THEIR PART. TO MAKE THINGS WORSE I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW COMPUTER SO PURCHASED A NEW DELL, WHICH I CAN'T REALLY AFFORD BUT I NEEDED A DESKTOP COMPUTER. NOW I HAVE TO RETURN IT, WHAT A PAIN. IT JUST GOES TO SHOW YOU THAT NOT ALL TECHS KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING. IF YOU LOSE INTERNET ACCESS TO YOUR COMPUTER, DESKTOP OR LAPTOP - GET THIS FIRST AND SAVE YOURSELF A LOT OF AGGRAVATION OF LOSING YOUR FILES THEN HAVING TO PUT EVERYTHING BACK AGAIN. ... show more

  • Fantastic Product
Hate the wires for your PC to router and not being able to use your smart tv with your Wi-Fi and pretty much anything that takes Wi-Fi but may not have a wifi installed in it? Then this little jewel is for you. I use it for my desktop so I don't have to run a cord from the router - in the living room - to the desktop in the little office space off the kitchen. I used it on my smart TVs before I got the wifi installed in the house following a move. It would ping off my phone's hotspot and I could get Netflix and other online services. It works like a little router all its own. Just plug it into your TV or PC or whatever tech needs a wifi connection. Turn it on, find your wifi, log in and you are online. I have never had to load the CD install that came with it. I carry it with me in my luggage to use in hotels. Whoever came up with this little device is a genius. It has saved me so much trouble with stupid cords and cables running all over the house. ... show more

  • Good Buy
Some may wonder what kind of USB WIFI they will get for $9. I purchased this one because of its’ size, it is small. The directions are in Chinese on one side and English on the other. A CD comes with it with the driver, but my laptop does not have a CD player. However, the web address was given too, and it took five minutes of looking to find the driver. After its installation, it ran flawlessly. I needed this devise because I need to connect wirelessly to an Epson projector that has an UBS WIFI receiver, but I need to stay connected to the local WIFI for the internet. Epson's USB devise for $100 is not a WIFI and it was extremely difficult to install. However, their software allows for your choice in which WIFI devise you wish to run. Ultimately, a level 2 Epson technician ran out of time before we could figure out something to make the wireless projecting and internet possible at the same time. I would say this USB/WIFI signal is as good as the one that came with my notebook. I am so glad there is an inexpensive solution for this problem. ... show more

  • Great Product
My grandson's old laptop would not pick up the internet after it upgraded to Windows 10. Nothing I tried helped, though I spent hours applying every trick I could find on the internet. Nothing worked, though it would sometimes pick up the internet briefly. I stumbled onto this device after I determined that the problem seemed to be in the network adapter. I figured, for 10 dollars, I couldn't go wrong. When I plugged it in, it immediately brought up the internet connections. I entered my router password, and I was online. It has worked great since, and on top of that, it came three days early. I highly recommend this device to anyone with similar connectivity problems. On this laptop, this device was just plug and play. I didn't have to download any drivers or anything. It worked right out of the box, and instantly. Five stars all the way! ... show more

  • IT Consultant
I carry a couple in my bag all the time now. Having been in IT for over 20 years I have come across several weird situations were a laptop/PC just doesn't like the WiFi radio it's connecting to. The most recent was a laptop that just wouldn't stay connected to brand new Cisco equipment. This laptop was literately within 25 ft of a new AP and would not stay connected no matter what I did. Add one of these little monsters, turn off the built in radio and problem solved. ... show more

  • Works as advertised!
I'm usuing this on a Windows 10 laptop. My laptops network chip broke, and I found it cheaper to just buy a network adapter instead of buying the network chip. I had extra USB ports I never used, so this fit the bill nicely. One issue that I have with it, that may affect others is the network adapter has a little green blinking light on it which tends to catch my eye or distract me when usuing it. It's something I have to get used to. There's no connection that I use that's over 100mbps so I found this to be the best option for me. I have a Wireless AP for TP-Link as well, and I have to say so far their products feel as if they're quality products that always meet expectation. ... show more
