The media could not be loaded. UPDATE Light failed at the first solder point - strip is completely useless unless cut and wired in using splice kit. This is a horrible product. The features are cool but the quality control on these units is very bad. All of the metal solder points, the 3M tape is lifting from. There are weird strange bubbles at all of the metal solder points and in all honesty I don't trust any of this 3M tape at all. They work but for how long is the question ... show more

I found these easy to setup, for both the hardware and the software. The lights themselves are nice and bright and the colors are well saturated. I'm personally not a fan of the descreet LED look, so I set mine up in some diffusion mounts and they look wonderful. The lights have a physical button that let you turn them on/off as well as cylce through preset effects. They of course can also be controlled by the tp link app, which I found easy to setup and tie into both Alexa and Google home. Customization in the app is easy to do and allows for very in depth control of the lighting effects. I'm very satisfied with this as an alternative to the more expensive brand I had been using. The ability to control the strip in segments is such a change of pace from my old lights. So these are easy to recommend. ... show more

Review for: TP-Link 'Tapo', RGBWIC Smart LED Light Strip 16.4Ft TP-Link is a brand that I trust, I have been buying their products for years. When I saw this LED Light strip, I thought I would give it a try, and I am pretty impressed The Light Strip itself comes on a reel with a 'peel and stick' type back to it. So basically install the light strip where you want it, if it is too long there are specific points on the strip where you can cut it down to size. You then need to connect the power cord to the strip - it just plugs in, but you need to align two arrows to get the polarity right. I was looking for the arrow on the LED Strip connector, but it is actually printed on the light strip itself (see photo). Then you just plug it in Setup was real easy. I have an android phone, so I went to the Play Store and downloaded the "TP-Link Tapo" app, which walks you through the process. Create an account and basically once the light strip is powered on, your phone should discover it and connect to it. You then need to set up the Wi-Fi and enter the password. It will ask you to name the device, and keep in mind, if you're going to use this with Alexa, Alexa will also use this name (but you can change it later). A firmware update was installed and then to enable Alexa, I just needed to link your Tapo Account with your Alexa Account and 'Tapo' should show up under your Alexa skills. Operation is pretty simple. It comes with a push button control, but I got the TP-Link setup for it's Alexa integration. Response to voice commands was pretty quick. Alexa - turn on 'party lights', Alexa - 'party lines' Red, Alexa - 'party lights' 70%, etc. The Tapo app has even more features, where you can change colors, pick different scenes and effects. TP LINK I love LED everything, unfortunately, I haven't had much luck with the adhesive part staying long term. The last strip set I purchased just kept falling down and looking really bad. They weren't cheap either. I decided to give these a try because like it or not, I need them to line my stairs so that my kids can clearly see where they are stepping. This set is far more energy efficient than leaving actual lights on all the time. This set works with Apple Home Kit, Alexa & Google Home, you just download the app and then you can simply give the command to turn on or off the lights, etc. You can set schedules too, like when you want them on and when you don't. Unlike RGB or RGBIC, RGBWIC LED light strips give you brighter and cleaner white lighting with its extra white LED beads & 16 million color choices with 1-100% dimming capabilities, letting you set the exact mood for every scenario with the TAPO APP.     • Great lights - color or white!

It seems that RGB lights are everywhere these days - smart light bulbs, coloring changing LEDs everywhere. And these strips let you add them to even more things - with each strip, you get a bit over 16ft of addressable LEDs (50 zones, up to 1000 lumens total which is pretty bright) and you can cut it to suit your purposes. Note that if you do choose to cut it, you can't use both parts - only the part with the connection end on it, the other part is now trash and cannot be re-used. I'd love to see a modular version that you could take apart/put back together depending on need, but these are really meant to be installed somewhere, so you should only need to cut them once. The killer feature on these lights though is actually that they have additional lights embedded - instead of simulating "white" light with the RGB LEDs, this actually allows you to use a set of embedded additional "white" LEDs to create a regular daylight/bright white/warm white light strip. This is huge and creates a much better light for reading or other normal day to day activities than a standard RGB light strip. TP-Link is well-known for creating quality, affordable networking and smart home devices and this light strip (and the entire Tapo line) fit well with that narrative and extend it. I do wish there was a better way to link the Tapo and Kasa lines but I can see segmenting the market a bit. So if you want some additional RGB (or even white) light in your life, give these a try! ... show more
