  • Strong WiFi in the whole house.
Style: AX3600 Tri-Band Size: 2 Pack
Upgraded to X68 from the deco M5 and what a difference. The X68 runs much cooler the the M5. Please follow the instructions on disconnecting the modem power for 5mins or longer. I didn't and the X68 failed to connect to the modem. I've read on the deco forum that the 5mins flushes the modem cache. Once I did that problems solved. I'm annoyed the deco charges for Web protection. There is a work around for this by using a DNS server with malware filtering. Please search for a DNS server the offers this. I like the App it's easy to use and does not allow a lot of changes which doesn't bother me I need ease of use over tons options, I'm not a power user or gamer. The App allows basic changes which is good IMHO. This is a good option over the latest and greatest. I'ld rather pay less for a 2 year old product than top dollar for the latest and greatest. The WiFi is just as fast as my wired iMac and the is fantastic. ... show more

  • Deco X95 - after 1 week I'm happy
Style: AX7800 Tri-Band Size: 2 Pack
Got the Deco X95 (AX7800) to replace an Amplifi Alien mesh setup that had started frequently rebooting. So far, Im really happy. Im not a home networking expert, but Im also not a novice - somewhere inbetween. Ive set up many of these in the past (from Orbi to Eero and Amplifi), and use some of the customization features. Setup was simple. Took me less than 5 minutes to have the entire mesh network set up. Every device connected (except one, Sonos), and I have about 60 devices in the house including all the IoT stuff. The app was easy to use and pointed me in the right direction, step by step. After a full week, I have had zero devices drop or have connection issue in a 4k sqft house. Stability is probably the #1 requirement for me, both my wife and I work from home. As mentioned, Sonos didnt work within the 1st hour I had set up the Deco. Sonos is notoriously bad with mesh networks, which is unfortunate because I love their products otherwise. I fiddled with some security settings (set it to WPA2/WPA3), rebooted my sonos devices...and decided to work on it the next day. Im not sure if it was the security setting or the reboot - but miraculously the next day all of my sonos devices appeared on the network map and were working (I have 8 of them). So, I know it can be frustrating, but I at least wanted to share one experience of sonos working with Deco, since I saw a few comments about it in other reviews. Edit 2/15/23: Just wanted to share that this has been 100% rock solid and stable for a month now. Very happy with performance, range, stability. Even though the unit is not as fancy as my Amplifi Alien, it was an upgrade in performance and range which matters more than the cool on screen display the Alien had. ... show more

  • High Speed through the whole house
Style: G.hn Powerline, For Homes w/ Thick Walls Size: 3 Pack
Bought this to replace a 10 year old Netgear router. Speeds are now 500 mbps down and 50 mbps up wirelessly. This is the same speed as delivered with a direct ethernet connection to the router. Used the Deco app on a tablet to setup and all went smoothly. I recommend resetting each unit when first powering up. The default settings are used and seem OK; App tries to hide all the other router setting, but I didn't need to change any of them. Powerline link works much better than older PL units; and no extra cables required. For reasons unknown, periodically download drops to half of upload speeds according to speedtest on both wired and wireless connections. But after a day or two the original speeds return without any manual intervention. Cable modem or cable problem? My contracted speed is nominally 100 mbps down. Tried various reboots, etc. with no immediate fix. Meets my needs perfectly. ... show more

  • Must use app. PoE Mounting is so-so
Style: AX3000 w/ 2.5G Port, PoE+ Powered Size: 3 Pack
I've had a few mesh WiFi systems over the years. I got this one specifically because there aren't many PoE options. The Deco X50-PoE has that, and is capable of mounting on the wall or ceiling with the included hardware via an electrical outlet box. Mounting high allows better signals throughout the home. However, the included mounting brackets are pretty weak and begin to bend after a few months under the weight of the X50-PoE units. The brackets are also black, when most homes have white ceilings. I know that comes down to personal preference, but I feel like matching the most common ceiling color would make more sense. As for the Deco Mesh system itself: it's okay. You have to use the app for setup and admin, which makes things pretty seamless. Parental controls are mediocre unless you pay for the advanced controls. Then they're mediocre++. You can't block entire domains with a wildcard and have to rely on manually blocking whenever a questionable site is accessed. Something else that bothers me is the lack of MAC whitelisting. In other words, the Deco doesn't allow you to block all MAC addresses by default and allow only the ones you define. This probably isn't an issue for most users, and the simplicity and seamlessness of the app should work well for most. I still give it 4 stars because it just works. I've had a couple instances during my 1.5 years of ownership where I needed to manually restart the Decos, but otherwise they just work. You'll have whole-home wifi coverage quickly and easily if that's all you're looking for. ... show more
