I watched a video online (I forget who produced it) where a fair-haired man was on his knees, using a Japanese sickle to basically cut down long grass. The blades of grass just toppled over like he was using a scythe. So, okay, I couldn't tell which brand of Japanese sickle he was using, but this one was under $10 so why not give it a try? It arrived today, and while it does cut grass, I have to hold the top of it (the grass) to create some tension before the blades are willingly sheared in two. I can't just casually swish my arm back and forth from the elbow, holding the handle of this tool, and have all of my long grass seemingly melt before me. Thus the four stars, because this sickle DOES cut grass, it just does not cut it as well as I had hoped that it would. ... show more

It is very well made and perfect size for small garden weeding. The angle of the tynes is just a little off for me. I am having to give the weed a few whacks before I can get the tynes to go at the correct angle to go deep enough to grab hold of the weed. Hopefully it will get easier! Gonna keep it cuz it does work to pull those weeds out! ... show more

This weeding tool is so great!! This summer my lawn has been attacked by creeping weeds that were covering several patches. This little wand pulled them all up without disturbing the grass. I also used it to pull bigger weeds by the root in just one simple motion. It's very sturdy, all metal with a long handle. It's like a reversed fork that pulls everything but the grass. Weeding has always been a chore. I saw this product advertised and decided to try it. It works much better when the ground is wet. If the ground is too dry, it does not pull out the weed out but only deleafs the weed leaving the root in place. . When the ground is wet, the success rate of pulling out the entire weed and the root goes up exponentially. ... show more
