I bought this light along with the CL1200 for my 2 bikes so that I could do a side by side comparison on the road. On paper and in some of the videos I found on YouTube, the dual beam pattern and lumen ratings sounded promising. However in the real world when compared side by side with the CL1200, I found that the DLite1800 only performed marginally better than the CL1200 in terms of brightness and distance/throw. You would think that the additional "high beam" function would allow you to see further down the road, however from my experience, the "low beam" was so bright that it overpowered the high beam light, so my eyes were constantly focused on the bright spot directly in front of my bike instead of further down the road. Unfortunately you cannot adjust the brightness of either beam independently, so when it was on max brightness, both low and high beams were on max. However again, I feel as if the high beam was much weaker than the low beam, rendering it virtually useless. To add to that, when on max brightness, the light only lasts around 3 hours. The CL1200 seemed to last a bit longer as I was able to complete a 5-hour long ride on med/high brightness with the CL1200 and it still had charge left in it, while my riding partner who was testing the DLite1800 ran out of battery 3-3.5hrs into our ride and was left in the dark. All in all I would not waste your money and just stick with the cheaper CL1200. This unit needs a bit more work to be the perfect light.

First the good. It comes as described and pictured. Well built and solid. My problem is the specs. In March I purchased another brands light, a 300 lumen light for under 20 dollars. It works great. I wanted more light and to mount it differently. This lights specs claim 1800 lumens. It's complicated by modes. Basically a low beam, a strobing low beam, a stronger low beam, a high beam, and then this splash of extra bright light only while physically holding a button on the remote. All 3 of the low beams are only strong enough to be warning lights, day time, early evening lights. The high beam throws light further out but literally matches my 300 lumens light. So it's good for up to 12-14mph. Very disappointed in this seeing that it costs 4 times as much. Now the extra bright temporary light, the one you have to manually hold is very bright. It works in a quick pinch but there is no way to keep it on. When you release the button it's back to dim lighting. Next, the remote. The remote functions great, is clean and blends in nicely. It comes with two sizes of o rings to attach it. Neither one hold it tight enough to hold it firmly in a single position. Each time I reach for it, it has moved slightly. This causes a delay that can be costly when your moving along in the dark at speed. The other issue with the remote is that it's 3 buttons. I wear riding gloves and between the position changing and the lack of well defined to the touch buttons leaves me struggling to find and deploy the right light at the right time. Feel like I got mugged.
