These cuts were made freehand using a Ryobi 18V cordless router just to test out the bits. I did not use a fence and it was all freehand. Pine wood does not cut smooth with with most router bits and you get tear out. I’m sure if I used my router table with a fence or my plunge router with a fence the cuts would come out better. These are not the highest quality bits and since I don’t use them often they will serve their purpose. The plastic containers are cheap soft plastic and they are marked with the size. The 5 sizes will come in handy when I need keyholes for picture frames or hanging shelves. If you make a lot or keyholes get a better one. If you occasionally route them these are fine. I have a woodworking shop in a building and don’t usually use this kind of bit. But now I will since I have various sizes for different screws. Not a bad set for occasional use. ... show more

Reviewing these items after testing them a short time can be a toss up. I cannot comment on the life of the item. I can say that it fits my router and that routing a dozen slots was easy and accurate. Certainly, the price is right compared to more expensive bits and I have found, that as a non-professional, these less than ‘top-of-the-line’ items fulfill my needs and fit my budget! ... show more

I like these and will definitely get some use out of them! These acrylic ones are all fairly accurate but I'm not sure I'd trust them for the most precise work. If nothing else because the plastic that these are made from is going to wear down much faster than the aluminum ones will. For me, I'll be using them as a general guide for when that type of thing will be useful. ... show more

What a great set of key-hole bits! The carbides are very sharp and they come in a range of sizes to help fit your application. These can be a somewhat hard to find in store, especially if you want a set with choices of sizes. These can be used to make T-slots, but I typically use these to route key-hole slots in the back of my projects to allow them to be hung on screw heads without any additional hardware needed. The key-hole slot allows these items to be hung flush to the wall. I use a plunge cut and a jig to get a nice straight cut - remember to travel back down the slot before bringing the bit back up! The smallest 4 bits have carbides that meet in the middle, making plunge cuts easy. The larger two don't meet in the middle, so it's a bit trickier to do a plunge cut with those (you have to enter the cut at an angle, or have some lateral movement while entering the cut). Those two are better suited for T-Slots. Overall though, I think this a great set, and top bargain! ... show more

A really good value for a six piece set. I've always wanted a couple of these but could not justify the cost for how seldom I'd use them but at just around the same price as one bit in the store you get six bits in various sizes. They cut well (I only cut some test slots) and seem much better quality than I expected at this price. ... show more

    • Wear well, and perfect sizes.
These have been holding their sharpness well and are all the perfect sizes you'd want for keyhole cuts. The shanks fit the collets correctly too. I will get this brand again if I need to replace these bits. They cut well, and the price is right.
