  • 4,500 SQ FT: Our dehumidifier can remove up to 50 pints of water every 24 hours (same as 70 Pint units under 2012 DOE standard.) A lower humidity level allows your AC system to work more efficiently because it's easier to change the temperature of dry air compared to moist, super-humid air.
  • INTERNAL PUMP: The internal pump automatically removes collected water from the dehumidifier so you never experience downtime due to a full water bucket. Water can be pumped sideways or vertically up to 16 feet away. Water will collect in the bucket until it's almost full, then the internal pump will automatically start up to remove the collected water.
  • REAL-TIME MONITORING: After choosing a target humidity level the control panel will display the current humidity level. The dehumidifier will power off after reaching the target you set. If you want the dehumidifier to run nonstop regardless of the current humidity level, press the minus button until the control panel displays "NS." The dehumidifier will run until the drain bucket is full, which will never happen if you have the continuous drain set up.
  • SOLID MATERIAL: All plastic components are made from solid ABS for increased durability. We use solid-copper tubing in our internal lines for better heat transfer and received a UL94 flame-retardant classification of V-0, which means even if the unit were to catch on fire, the flame would stop within 10 seconds.

    • Looks nice, fairly quiet, works well for an NYC apartment.

Volume I've had this for today months. It's energy efficient and quiet on medium and low settings. On high it's about as loud as my AC on low. At about 3 feet away it measures at 63-67db. It's really not much different than the sound of a good quality fan in my observation. Performance It's 90% humidity outside at 71F today at sea level. The unit has my bedroom at 35% after about 3 hours of continuous use today. My bedroom is 12'x18'. Typically I have it running 24/7. At this temperature and humidity level I would have to empty the tank once per day. I would suggest emptying thre tank before you sleep so as not to be woken by the full alarm which is high pitched and loud. Notes. The water tank has a fold down handle attached inside of the tank. It seems sturdy enough for occasional use but with regular use I would suggest using the handle only to carry the water tank to wherever you decide to dump the water and not hold onto the handle while you're dumping the water. The joints that connect the handle to the tank cover don't look like they could handle the torque forced on them for long --so hold the tank by the bottom and sides if it's full. I only use this in the bedroom and it works to my satisfaction. I'm sure it would be adequate for an entire 800 sqf apartment in less humid locations (or higher altitude). However, if you live near the water or on an island you might have to get multiple units or a larger one if you're looking to get to 20% humidity. So far I've only been able to get to 20% when the humidity level outside was at about 50% which is rare for NYC summers. I'll keep you apprised of any updates. On the highest fan setting it DOES put out warm-hot air but if you lower the fan setting, that brings exhausted air down to cooler than room temperature. I hope this review is helpful.     • Failed after 4.5 years of heavy use, but overall decent product

It did alright, given the abuse it's been through. It did its job for about 4.5-years straight in a humid, 1300 sqft basement before failing with a generic error code. It may just need coolant...hard to say from the code. It is reasonably easy to clean (although the tank is tough to scrub thoroughly w/o a bottle brush or something like that), it comes back online automatically after a power outage, and the pump means minimal maintenance. The pump was beginning to fail these past 6 months or so, but it kept going. I'll probably buy another since I know it works with my setup. ... show more

I live in the south so the humidity is a problem. We bought this unit 2 years ago and it’s been constantly running since. When they say it costs $2/day to run, it really does. We’ve tracked it. But it’s worth it for $730/year to not have mold. It’s loud and puts off a lot of heat, something to consider in the summer. However, lowering the humidity in the summer helps the house feel cooler overall. It does work remarkably well. Our unit is in the basement and I can tell as soon as I open the basement door how dry it is down there. My boss bought the same one for the office (it’s about 2,000sqft) and it helps a ton. ... show more

    • Use pliers to connect hose...trust me

I've had mine for 2 years and love it because it's quiet and energy efficient. That said, I just recently got the hose drain to work. In the past, hose draining was intermittent at best. Typically I was running to the basement and dumping the bucket. That gets old quickly. I went to the Tosot site and did the trouble-shooring. Nothing. I finally saw, I think in another review, that using pliers to tighten the hose makes it work. I had hand-tightened it, and retightened it several times. But still, sometimes it would drain, others not. When I used pliers, after I had hand-tightened as tight as I could, I was able to make another complete turn and then some. Now it is draining!!     • Great humidity control but runs hot

Pros: This unit is very effective at removing humidity. The pump empties the tank every few hours no problem. Cons: a bit loud and throws off considerable heat during operation. This adds heat to the house which we have to counteract with AC. I’m considering a vent solution to cut the heat down.

    • Solid Performer - Until it Wasn't

Bought the 50 pint/4,500 sq ft unit from Amazon over 3 years ago to control humidity in the basement of our 3/2 home. It was a solid performer, but the constant run feature stopped working a few months ago. It is now out of warranty... so by the time you pay for repairs, you might as well get a new unit. This time I'm going with a more robust commercial product to see it will go more than 3 years, hopefully. For what I paid, it did a solid job for three years, so I still feel worth a 4 stars. Be aware, If you are wanting to use in living space, this one might be on the loud side. We only have washer and dryer in the basement and use for storage so noise not a big factor for us. ... show more

I was given a TOSOT that was three years old and it worked in my home for an additional three years. I am able to pump the water thru my washing machine discharge pipe in our finished basement, so never have to empty the bucket. I was disappointed when the old one stopped working but figured 6 years was a good run, so I bought another one. I have a fridgedaire in my garage that is also a powerhouse but have to empty the bucket daily and wanted to avoid that chore on our inside dehumidifier so when I am away for a weekend or all week, it's still taking the humidity out of the room. So far, all good. I can hear it but It's not too loud and it is sufficient to dehumidify 850 square feet finished space. ... show more

Bought this one with a pump (to replace one that was incorrectly described on Amazon as having one and did not) and I feel lucky we got this one instead. It installed easily, worked as promised right out of the box, loved that they included 12' of tubing which was enough to get it outside the crawlspace, came with a manual that was easily understood, and made QUICK work of reducing the humidity to between 50 & 55%. It's been running on auto for 5 days and has been monitored. Fingers-crossed this is the beginning of a long-lasting relationship! (And Amazon was great about recognizing the description error, contacting manufacturer, accepting a return, and letting us schedule a UPS pick-up vs. hauling the heavy thang to a drop location!
