I am always intrigued by dog toys that call themselves "indestructible". I have been buying dog toys for twelve years now, and I have yet to see one that was, so I had to order this one to see what was so different about it. There's no doubt that the toy is cute; I mean, it's a blue hippo! The material they used to make it is heavy and textured, not something that would be easy for a strong jawed dog to bite into. All of the seams are sewn together very well, and the embroidered eyes are a nice addition instead of sewing on plastic beads that a dog could choke on. The legs are twisted rope that is pulled through the body of the toy and knotted at the ends to form feet. There is a squeaker in the body of the hippo and crinkle paper inside the tail. As soon as I unwrapped it, my foster dog heard the squeak and ran right over. She practically jumped up on the counter to get to it, so I had no choice but to hand it over. She ran away with it, squeaking all the way. My foster dog is not destructive with toys at all, so I imagine this toy will last a long time. I can't comment on the "indestructibility" of this toy, but it certainly got my foster dog's attention. ... show more

I never have high hopes for toys that are labeled for aggressive chewers because my dogs put that label to the ultimate test. Unfortunately this was another one that did not live up to the label. 5 stars for enjoyment, my dogs absolutely loved it... while it lasted. Unfortunately they had it shredded in under 20 minutes and it made for quite the mess to clean up. I will say the rope legs did make it last a tad longer than others but it definitely should not be labeled for aggressive chewers or large breed dogs. It did lose stars for that and definitely is for moderate/medium chewers. Would be a great option for teething pups or easy chewers! ... show more

My dog is a chewer. She loves to destroy her toys. She has had this toy for almost a month, and it's still intact. That's the kind of toy I'm looking for! It's durable and chew-proof. She loves to run through the yard with it in her mouth. The best thing is, I don't have to pick up a bunch of fluffy stuffing because it's made out of a rope-like material. Despite what the product description says, this toy is NOT for aggressive chewers. Within 30 mins of playing with it, my dog had managed to unknot one end of one of the legs, pull the rope through the toy, and ate the rope. We were lucky that he eventually vomited the rope up, rather than going through his intestines. It's a cute toy, but I would only use it with dogs who are less aggressive with their toys. ... show more
