  • a great assortment
I got this tool set to have in the office. You just never know when you need a tool. This set has pretty much everything you would need for common everyday fixes. The case is a little large, so make sure you have a long enough drawer to store them in.

  • Handyman set
This TOOLZILLA Home Mechanic Tool Set is a comprehensive assortment of what most people should have in their house or apartment for common repairs or hobby jobs. Everything has its place, and in a lot of houses, like mine, much of the miscellaneous stuff here – electrical tape, nails, screws, and such end up in my junk drawer. For the other tools, all can stay organized in the tool box. A couple of the slots are not super tight fitting (some sockets are not super tight and may fall out, -1 star), but things stay together acceptably. If you are looking for something to keep in the truck of your car or truck, I would suggest a “mechanics set” rather than handyman set. A mechanics set will usually have all the metric and British sockets, two socket drivers, in addition to the wrenches matching same, along with a sturdy all purpose grip wrench and the standard, but versatile, socket screwdriver. Household sets, like the TOOLZILLA, are great to have quick access to the most common tools most people need around the house – especially for first-time home owners. Once you get a feel for what you may use the most, get a tool box and fill it up with your own essentials. ... show more

  • There's a lot of tools here
When I moved out of my parents home and got my first car, my father bought me a small tool set. I still have it 28 years later. I got this tool set to give to my oldest son in a little bit. Now - this tool set is slightly different then mine - mine was more geared towards mechanics, this tool set is geared towards work around the home. I like this one because it has pretty much every hand tool you need around the thouse. Here's what I don't like after putting hands on every tool in the kit - One of the allen key sets - the special star set - the little wrenches slide right out of their slots of their holder. The 2 allen wrench sets are not slipping at all. That's really my only complaint. I mentioned my old tool kit, well, the plastic case separated at the hinge points about 10 years after I got it. This case seems to be a bit beefier. Overall - I think for the price you do get a good amount of useful tools. ... show more

  • Good first tool kit for an apartment, tough to get some bits out of the plastic holders
At $45, this tool like pretty much covers all the basics of what you may need for a first apartment...hammer, tape measure, pliers, Allen wrenches, screwdrivers, socket set, level, utility knife, etc. It's not the heaviest duty construction so if you're looking for high quality, this isn't it. I also REALLY had a problem getting some of the socket fittings out of the plastic holders....like, hurt my fingers getting them out. Also, an annoyance is that while nearly all tools fit snugly in the case, some of the allen wrenches do not which means closing up the case requires you to be careful or they fall out of their holding area. Dumb. At this price point, it's not bad. Do some comparison shopping. The long term durability is the biggest question mark but you're getting all the basics in one place for somebody just moving into their own place with no tools at all. ... show more

  • Just about all the basic tools you'll need
The TOOLZILLA 57-Piece Home Tool Set will get you 90% of the tools you'll need for common handyman tasks. A big plus is the come in a case that keeps them organized so it's easy to find the tool you are after. I have lots of tools of varying quality (Craftsman, Klien Tools, even some Snap On). These tools are NOT in that quality range, but for most home maintenance they should be durable enough. There is quite a bit of plastic odor when opening the box. You'll have to let it sit open somewhere for a week or more to let it dissipate. The starter tool kit workspace is quite competitive, and there are a LOT of options. I can't say this is the best choice, but it's not a bad one either. ... show more

  • Nice inexpensive home tool kit
Pretty much anything you may need for minor home tweaks and repairs is in here in one neat and convenient place. The fit for some of the tools in the case could be better, but it is workable. Pretty much any tool you would want is in there, even some screws, wall anchors, cup hooks, and electrical tape. ... show more

  • Great Entry Level Tool Kit
I have a home workshop full of tools, but one of my sons lives in an apartment and he really needed an entry-level tool kit that covered most of the bases, so I grabbed this for him. There is a lot squeezed into this kit... tape measure... level... socket set... hex key set... wire cutters... hammer... screwdrivers... pliers... etc. The case is sturdy and securely latches. For anyone without room for a huge collection of tools, this kit is a great way to cover most of your needs while taking up very little space. The tools are of decent quality... definitely good enough to last many years with occasional use. Fairly priced. ... show more

  • Mediocre tool set
This set does come with most of the basic essentials, but the quality isn't that great. I would only recommend using these tools for very simple tasks. These are not made well enough to take on big repair jobs. Probably best for someone that's just learning the basic principles of tools
