  • Tooliom Welder 110V Model 135M Flux-Wire/Stick/Lift-TIG 2-knob version
Size: 135A Flux MIG Welder
Almost 9 months and still GOOD! I purchased the Tooliom 135M 110Vac Flux/Stick/Lift-TIG welder around July 2023 for ~$104. It is the version with 2 control knobs. image1 I have a HF flux welder with similar specs but anyone who has one knows those HF flux welders are old-style iron/copper transformer based (freakin' HEAVY!) and output is AC (mediocre penetration and SPLATTER BEADS GALORE). I did convert my HF to DC which made weld penetration better and almost completely eliminated splatter beads. BUT it is now even HEAVIER so it is not really portable. It is also limited to FLUX welding ONLY so no Stick or Lift-TIG options. Enter this Tooliom 135M. I wasn't expecting "great" performance from it, just hoping for adequate performance with less splatter (DC output) and lighter weight (inverter power supply) so I can transport and use the welder at different locations. Installed some 0.035 flux wire and started my first small projects using out-of-the-box knob settings (roughly centered). I needed a couple custom "bung wrenches" for chemical drums and totes. Two small wrench welds shown, larger wrench (not shown) welds looked the same. image2 Parts are 1/2" galvanized iron pipe with 5/16" thick tabs of steel. Didn't even try to clean off zinc pipe coating. Just welded right through it. I DID weld this OUTSIDE and avoided breathing any of the vaporized zinc fumes (white clouds) so "welder zinc fever" was not a problem. Galvanized metal welders should BE AWARE this can be a health hazard. SUPER smooth and easy welds. Excellent weld penetration. Easy flux cleanup with a wire wheel. None to a few scattered weld splatter beads. Those may be my fault for improper wire "stick-out". I think I got too close (stick-out too short) on the one weld with the visible splatter beads. I have also used the flux function to make some custom sensor brackets for a date-code-printer on a production canning line and repaired parts on a large metal gate latch/lock that was vandalized (destroyed!). Overall I am VERY IMPRESSED with how this little welder performs "flux wire" welds on 110V. I also used the "stick" function and some 309L stainless rods to make some custom stainless steel brackets for a new canning line. Welds were structurally good but I did get a little blow-through on some thinner sheet metal sections. That is strictly MY FAULT. It was my first time stick welding these stainless steel rods and I think either my current was set too high or I was going too slow. Regardless, the welding machine performed above expectations. The operator just needs more practice/experience ;-) I have a TIG torch (not supplied with this purchase) which will work with this machine in "Lift-TIG" mode but have not tested that function yet. Overall I rate this welder 5* for performance/dollar. Cheers :-) ... show more

  • Shockingy good welder for the price!
Size: 135A Flux MIG Welder
I am NOT a professional welder. I'm self-taught from tons of YouTube videos and lots of practice. I learned how to weld because I was doing a fame-off restomod on a 1980 Jeep CJ7. I started with a Forney EasyWeld Flux Core machine. It did the job, but to be honest, It was really quite finicky, and you constantly had to tweak the settings to get a good weld and NOT burn through. Still, overall, it got the job done, though it necessitated putting in a 50AMP fuse to keep from blowing the circuit. Now, the Tooliom welder was definitely a shocker. I got it b/c it was the cheapest multi-function welder I could get. I wanted to learn stick and TIG welding. Found out REALLY fast that my Parkinson's is NOT good for stick. Haven't tried TIG yet b/c bottled gas is too expensive. No big whoop! When it comes to FC welding, this little welder is a BEAST! Plugs right into 110/120V outlets, and puts out enough oomph! to weld 1/4" steel without blowing the circuit breaker. I kinda hate to say it, but I have done MUCH better welds with the Tooliom than the Forney. I can vouch for how it would perform for stick and TIG, but if the FC abilities are any indication, I should do VERY well! Honestly, so far, the only thing I'm not thrilled with concerning this welder is getting the wire feed set up. It's kinda cramped quarters in there, and if you have ham-hocks, well, be careful. Seriously, I have yet to find anything I really just don't like about this little beast. If you're just getting into welding, I think you could do a LOT worse as a beginner!! Raising my right hand, I don't think you could go wrong with this welder. ... show more

  • Good handy welder, but requires mechanical fix to become sturdy
Size: 135A Flux MIG Welder
I bought this welder and received non-working one with strange sparks inside (as shown in the picture). The quick troubleshooting showed that not only the door was bended, but the PCB inside was broken, probably because the box fell somewhere. The reason of failure is a poor mechanical mount of the board with heavy components on it - it is attached by only three corners... So I returned it and received a new one. I already knew what to do and installed a standoff to hold the hanging corner (see green standoff in the picture). Now it should survive transportation. The first impression is that it provides enough current for flux core wire welder, I welded thin and thick pipes and 1/8" steel and it worked fine. The feed is smooth and the torch is of reasonable quality. The welder is lightweight and has a nice handle to carry it. The trigger on the torch does not have protection lock, so it is easy to feed the wire by mistake while simply holding the torch. The box accepts 2 lb spool, and there is no space for larger spools. The factory assembly is not excellent, few self tapping screws in both boxes I tried had broken threads (there were no "funneled" screw holes in the sheet metal) - but it is OK if you do not plan to disassemble. Looking at electronics, it is decent quality although the transformer was expected to be wound by Litz wire and it is wound by solid wire which has higher losses. It is 110V only, and while it is possible to rework it to add a 110/220V switch, the two series capacitors in the rectifier are rated to 200V only, which may be dangerous if there is a mismatch in capacitance. It does not have power factor corrector which can be found in much more expensive welders. There is no separate "current" control in flux mode, it is locked to feed rate as in other welders. In general, I would recommend this welder to hobbyist, it is worth the money (given standoff is added). ... show more

  • A good basic, simple machine
Size: 135A Flux MIG Welder
This welder is a little different than I expected, but not in a bad way. I'm not a professional welder. I've never used a wire feed welder prior to purchasing this welder. I have a fair amount of experience with stick welders. I purchased this to have something more versatile than the Zeny 160 stick welder I purchased last year. A multiprocess welder makes sense for a capable hobbyist. Did some looking around and settled on this one, seemed to have the best capabilities, cost, and other decent reviews. Unboxed and everything was there, except a roll of wire (which was not supposed to be there, my mistake). Put in a roll of E71T-11 went out and ran a couple test beads. This is when I figured out things were a bit simpler than I expected. The amperage knob is more of a set and forget knob; it controls amperage, voltage and wire speed. There is a chart in the manual that provides information on this. Being new to wire feed, this made the learning curve very short. I was able to get decent welds with good penetration very quickly and not worry about figuring out the wire speed and voltage. The upper knob does fine tune the voltage if necessary but this does not show on the display. After a couple test beads I spent the next 5 hours repairing some worn/damaged equipment and fabricating a firebox rack for my smoker. Running 100A or less I never surpassed the machine's duty cycle. Only had one minor instance of burn back. By the end of the day I had used about 3/4# of wire (0.030) and had all of my repairs done. It works, it works very well. It's a good learning machine. I think it is fairly easy to use. It's quite portable and light. A couple co-workers are very intrigued and thinking about buying their own. A couple of cons: The grounding clamp is kinda cheap and I replaced it with one from HF. The cables (ground and stinger) are on the short side. The wire feed cable is short too, but didn't cause any problems. ... show more

  • Great Machine
Size: 135A Flux MIG Welder
I had another brand of welder and it wouldn't hardly fluxcore weld at all. I thought I'd lost my touch. i was a welding supervisor in a factory for almost 5 years. So I had some extra cash and i wanted to try another that not only could flux core but you could also gas weld. when I got this one home opened it up and it was like night and day compared to the other one I didn't lose my touch the previous one was junk. One of the things that made me decide on this one was it could mig , flux-core, stick, and tig weld. And all worked great except the tig. why would you build a machine that could do all that but not send the tig gun with it. This isn't the only company I've had this trouble with . it just amazes me that if you order online then they expect you to go out and find the other half of it .kinda like selling a car with only 3 wheels .CLARIFY. The tig arm was not included in the sale. they didn't pack it wrong. ... show more

  • great little welder
Size: 135A Flux MIG Welder
I've used it for 1 project so far, with .035 Flux core, and no complains here. Did well enough on 1/4" plate. Fair amount of splatter but I probably didn't have something set right. I'm no pro welder by any means, but the weld it leaves comes out nice enough that I didn't feel the need to grind down the weld. One thing I missed initially that I got sorted before getting too far along was the feed wheel needs flipped to correctly handle .035 wire. Once on correctly it feeds nice and smooth. No complaints for a low cost welder (didn't get the gas version) that would fit in a backpack. Weighs probably 25 lbs with gun and a spool of wire in it ... show more
