It's hard to find any fault with TomToc products and it's no different with this backpack. It's the perfect commuter bag whether you want to use it for work, school, or any other daily activity. It has just enough room to accommodate basic transport that doesn't involve very complex organization. It has the basic necessities like a laptop sleeve, a tablet sleeve , as well as two additional organizational pockets (a small fleece lined one on the front and a somewhat larger hidden one on the side with a plastic key holder). The carry handle on the top, although not super comfortable, is still much more padded than the standard seatbelt like top handles you'll find on most other backpacks. It also has stretchable pockets on both sides for water bottles or anything else you feel like placing there. The main compartment is accessed via top load and is open and closed using a zipper in conjunction with rolling it up and snapping to the clip on the front of the bag inside of the main compartment is where the laptop and tablet sleeves are located. Both sleeves are well padded and are raised such that they do not touch the bottom of the bag. Other than that, there are two management pockets on the opposite side of the sleeves that you can use to place small items but they are pretty bare and don't really provide much containment since they aren't zippered. There are several connection points on the backpack straps for carabiners which is helpful. And lastly, the back panel does have a luggage pass thru sleeve. The back panel and the backpack straps are very well padded and comfortable, however, the straps do not include any sort of sternum strap for additional support. The zippers are all smooth and robust with the two exposed ones being waterproof. The zippers also have some brightly colored plastic zipper pulls attached that are helpful. Overall, the material and craftmanship on the bag is high quality. None of it feels cheap at all and I would imagine this bag will survive years of abuse and decades of average use. Some notable positives are that the main compartment can be accessed in one of 2 ways Thru the rolltop or from a zippered opening on the back panel. The zippered opening is only really meant to be able to access your laptop or tablet as it isn't large enough to pull out other items you may store in the main compartment but it is a nice feature to have for quick access to your laptop or tablet. As some others have labeled this a good travel bag I would beg to differ. It's not large enough nor is it practical enough for travel. Although there are a few compartments available, none really provide much in the way of organization so unless you like a really cluttered bag you aren't going to enjoy traveling with this. It also would not be comfortable to carry around for long periods of time as it doesn't even have a sternum strap. Plus, it's advertised as a commuter bag not a travel bag. As a daily activity bag going to and from work or school, it's a bang up bag that is well designed and has all the necessary features for that purpose. The only reason I'm docking one star is because I find the price to be off base. It's definitely not worth $75.99. Their 40L travel bag is way larger and priced at only $5 more for $80 and has a ton more features than this bag. At most, this is maybe a $50 bag and that's probably pushing it. Not a knock on the bag itself just a issue with pricing.

The Tomtoc roll top laptop backpack has some really interesting features that are unique to other travel backpacks that I have owned. 1. The roll-top feature. This is really useful, especially for long-haul travel. On long flights, I usually have some larger items that are not easily transportable yet I want to have them with me in the seat while I am flying, i.e. travel pillow, travel power strip, travel blanket. In the past, I've had to find ways to attach these to carry on luggage to get them on the plane. However, with the roll-top feature, you can extend the height of the backpack by unbuckling and then unrolling the top of the bag. This allows me to put in those extra items, board the plane, and efficiently put them in my seat. Then I can roll the top on the backpack, buckle it, and put it under my seat. Very useful. 2. Carry-on attachment strap. There is a strap on the back of the backpack that lets you attach your backpack to a carry on or other suitcase. This isn't really unique to this backpack, but it is still fairly unusual to see and is a useful feature for travel. 3. Quick-access for laptop. There is a zipper on the back of the backpack that provides quick access to a laptop. This is an AMAZING feature for getting your laptop or other electronics out of your backpack quickly when going through TSA/security checkpoints. 4. Felt-lined pocket for phones/scratch-prone electronics. My phone is not used often on flights, and I don't want it falling out of my pocket between the seats of an airplane. The felt-lined pocket allows you to keep scratch-prone electronics safe while traveling. 5. Quick-access front side pocket. This about large enough for a Nintendo Switch (regular one not Lite) if put in diagonally. Very cool to have a quick-access side pocket like this instead of having to sift through the main compartment looking for something. I normally only see vertical pockets on the front of backpacks. Please keep in mind this is a pretty large travel backpack. It's not hiking bag size, but its bigger than a standard bookbag for sure. It is well-made and appears to be very durable. I would have preferred the zippers to be a bit bigger, but they work well. The drink pockets are expandable and deep, and should be fine for water bottles up to approximately 32 ounces (if they fit in your car drink holder, they will likely fit in the drink pockets). The only cons that I can think of are that I really prefer the main compartments be separated, but in this case, the two main compartments share the same zipper and have a divider separating them. Not a big deal, but something worth noting. Also, I really would have liked some smaller vertical pockets for small items like pens, power banks, eye drops, etc. This backpack has a decent number of compartments and pockets, but most of them are not really designed for smaller items (except the front felt-lined one.) Overall, its an excellent large backpack with a number of useful features for travel!
