Don't get the asus case. It provides no protection the sides of the case, and as i put my ally vertically in my bag, this is a big reason for me to search for another case. I had a skull and co previously but that case didn't have quite enough clearance for my analog stickgrips. which brings me to the pros and cons of this tomtoc case. Pros: very slim and form fitting. has enough clearance for my skull&co grip case and analog stick grips (also from skull&co) ykk zippers great protection nice padded handle cons: if the padded handle could be something like one of the skull&co switch cases that can convert to strap, that would be cool, only because it would give another option of carry As far as this case is concerned, its near perfect for the ally if ur looking to just protect the ally and carry accessories seperately, like in a backpack or something. Otherwise, you'd need to look elsewhere, or wait for tomtoc to release a deeper version that accomodates accessories, like some cases they make for the switch. All in all, this is the perfect case for me. I love this thing P.S. the material on the outside is like a rubbery/foamy marterial that feels very high quality. No idea what these reviews are about! This case fits my Ally X absolutely perfectly (you do have to lift the little padded flap in the bottom to put it in). Fits the device snuggly and provides great protection. There is no room for accessories, or charger, but I normally carry them separately with my laptop anyway. If all you want is just protect your ROG Ally, this is the case!

So here’s the deal. Is it perfect for the X? Maybe not. The case itself is just awesome all around. It does fit the X and it is tight-ish but not really an issue. The left joystick can have an issue when the case is closed but this is solely how you put it in. You CAN put the device in this case and not have the joystick being clicked down. Here’s my fix and I haven’t had an issue: Put the X in the opposite way. Put the Screen side down first and you can line up the joysticks fine then close the other side and bam, good fit. Perfect? No. Works? Yes. Don’t expect to fit more than the unit. ... show more

If you want a case just for the console and nothing else this is the case for you. not much bigger than the console but provides very good scratch and drop protection. It also has a collapsible carry handle.

Unfortunately it does not work properly for the Ally X. While the X does fit inside of the case, the lid strikes the left stick. I contacted support and they indicated a dedicated Ally X version is in the works. I eagerly await that product. The materials are all really good. I wanted something slim so that it doesn't take much space in my bag and this thing is perfect. It's a nice hard shell on the outer edges, so offers a good amount of protection. If I dropped it, I wouldn't be scared. The top does have some flex, so don't go jumping up and down on top of it.
