This stem is a real game changer. I bought a new Specialized Hybrid bike and the handlebars were too low and no way to raise them. It put too much pressure on my wrists. Installing this item changed the comfort of the ride considerably. Heavy Duty and quality item as I was worried raising up the handlebar would make the system weaker. It does not! I purchased the TOBWOLF Bike Stem Riser & Adjustable MTB Bicycle Stem for both my mountain bike and e-bike, aiming to achieve a more comfortable and upright riding position. My experience with the seller was positive and the product did effectively raise and extend my handlebars, making neighborhood rides more comfortable. However, I have significant concerns about the product’s safety and suitability for trail or off-road use: Alignment Issues: The main bolt does not align perfectly with the frame, which immediately raised concerns about installation and long-term stability. Handlebar Slack: Despite tightening all bolts to specification, there is persistent slack on the horizontal axis of the handlebars. The bars can wiggle up and down, which is unsettling and undermines confidence in the bike’s handling. Lack of Sturdiness: Even after double-checking the installation and retightening everything, the handlebars still move under pressure. This makes me hesitant to put any real force on them, especially during more demanding rides. Not Suitable for Trails: While the stem riser works for casual, low-speed neighborhood riding, I do not feel safe taking it on trails or rough terrain. The instability and movement make me worry the bracket could fail or break under stress, which could lead to a dangerous situation. Summary Pros: Raises and extends handlebars as advertised Comfortable for casual, flat rides Good for adjusting fit on bikes used for commuting or leisurely rides Cons: Main bolt does not center align with frame Persistent slack and movement in handlebars Not sturdy or confidence-inspiring for off-road or trail use Feels unsafe under pressure or aggressive riding Recommendation If you only ride on smooth, paved surfaces and want a more upright position, this product may suit your needs. However, for mountain biking, trail riding, or any situation requiring strong, reliable handlebar support, I cannot recommend this stem riser. The persistent slack and alignment issues suggest a design or manufacturing flaw, and the lack of sturdiness could pose a safety risk in demanding conditions.
