This watch is fantastically functional: it does everything a watch should do and costs far less than the Apple watches. The best part is that it goes days without needing to be charged, and charges completely in about 30 minutes. I keep a charging cable in my car and just pop it on while I’m driving. The charging cables are a little funky, but replacements online are inexpensive so when the pins on one die, I just replace it. The only thing I don’t like is the wrist band that comes with it. Fortunately there are many third party options available so you can choose what you like. I have mine paired with my iPhone and it does a good job of tracking everything. It even starts tracking for walking and biking automatically when I forget to tell it and recognizes when I’ve stopped. Sleep tracking is also useful - just don’t get the idea that it’s perfect and you should do everything it tells you. Sometimes the “readiness” rating seems suspect. Still trying to decide whether I like the new AI “Coach”. It gives useful device that matches advice from my trainer, but it’s a little too chatty for my taste and sometimes goes off trying to solve a problem that doesn’t really exist. ... show more

    • Beautiful Tracker, Great Features, No Problems Using in the Pool

Update to my previous review: Leaving at 5 stars for quality, durability, and features. Battery life seems to be about the same as my old Fitbit HR. Initially, I got about 5 days out of the first couple of charges. Now I'm getting about 3-4. I have no problem with that. I charge my phone more often so I don't know why I would expect more from my fitness device. How quickly the battery drains seems to be dependent on my level of activity. I just check every day to see how much it's drained so I don't get caught out with a dead battery. Haven't allowed it to go less than 20%. It does not track steps accurately when I do pool exercises. I manually calculated about 2400 steps during my pool therapy and the tracker only counted a bit over 1900, including steps walking to and from the pool and so forth. All total, there should have been closer to 3000 steps so that's a pretty big disparity. Frankly, I have not found any fitness tracker to be very accurate with step count during exercise as it depends on how much arm swing is involved. Previous Review: Received my Fitbit Sense 2 (Mist blue and light gold) a few days ago and I love almost everything about this fitness tracker. The mist blue color is a pale blue-grey. The watch casing is a soft gold color like you might see on a car. It matches the seller's photo perfectly (on my PC monitor anyway.) I think it's very pretty, albeit larger than I like in a watch. I have tiny wrists and large watch bands/faces are awkward on me. But, to get the features I wanted, it's worth getting used to. I don't care for silicone bands as they don't breathe but I suppose for a sport watch, it might be the best option. The buckling system was concerning for me because you have to pop the band hole over a pin, then tuck it under on the other side against your wrist. It looked like it would be uncomfortable to clasp it and wear, but I'm happy to say it's not. Just feels a bit weird to me because it's bulky for my wrist size. It was relatively easy to set up. The only difficulty I had was when I logged into my Fitbit app previously associated with my Fitbit Charge HR, it kept asking me to log into my account, but I was already logged in. When I entered my password, it said it was incorrect but it wasn't. I finally tried using my email PW and got into my account. What was confusing was, the Fitbit logo was at the top next to, "log into your account." So, buyer be aware, if you have to log into an existing Fitbit account, they want your email address/PW, not Fitbit PW. The biggest reason I chose this model was for water use. I have to do pool therapy and wanted all my steps and activities to be logged in real-time. I wore it in the pool, hot tub, and shower today and there were no problems with it at all. Just be sure to read all the instructions carefully. You can get more info on the Fitbit website for details on setup, use, and care. The device only came with quick setup instructions in the box. I haven't really paid much attention to the sleep tracking as I have a sleep number bed that tracks that. And I haven't compared it against another heart rate monitor. However, based on the level of activity and how I felt during pool walking and exercises, it seemed like the numbers were relatively accurate. My favorite feature is the hourly buzz to get moving. It not only buzzes on my wrist to alert me it's time to move, but after I get up and walk around, it buzzes again to let me know I've completed 250 steps (based on my current setup.) This feature is priceless as I sit at a PC all day and forget to move. Overall, 3 days in, I'm very happy with this purchase and feel that the price was fair compared to similar devices with the same features. It also came with 6 months of free premium app services which I appreciate because it gives me a good amount of time to decide if I want to continue with the premium for a monthly fee. I do not find that app either intuitive or user-friendly and it will take some time for me to get the hang of using it. I've always been into fitness and health. I've always wanted to track my steps but didn't want some dumb looking smart watch on me all the time. BUT. This watch looks expensive and nice like an apple watch. Not to say thats what you're buying it for but it absolutely doesn't look stupid. It's almost like a game every day to see how many steps you can get. I am 6'1 and went from 243 pounds to about 223 pounds in just 3 months. It's insane. I already had the ability to be in okayish shape but this has changed my life for the better. For 220 dollars this might be the best investment anyone can ever make. Also tracks sleep so you dont have to pay a small fortune for a whoop ring ... show more

i was a diehard fitbit customer since 2016. over the past several years the quality has steadily degraded since google purchased fitbit and overhauled all the software that actually worked with the product. i would have recommended fitbit for years but now i would warn people against it. Major cons: life/durability, connectivity and functionality Durability: i bought my first fitbit sense in December 22 and it died by December 23. I bought this fitbit sense 2 in January 2024 and now it is experiencing the same charging issue. the charging prong connections get clogged over time due to sweat or dirt, but i cleaned this one more regularly than the previous one and it stopped charging much earlier. I can still kind of get the new one to work if I stand and hold the charger there and wiggle it around till it connects, then gently place it and make sure it doesn’t disconnect, but it is definitely on it’s way out. It used to stay charged for 5 days on one charge if I didn’t use GPS, now it is 2-3 days and I have to be super careful about not letting it get to zero because it is impossible to tell if it is connected once it dies fully. EDIT: I wrote this review July 20, 2024; as of August 20, 2024 the Fitbit sense 2 will not charge no matter what I do so I cannot even reset it or update it because it won’t turn on. Don’t waste your money (I also have 4 sense chargers & none work - it is definitely the watch) Connectivity: every single time I open the fitbit app it is a fight to sync the device and takes probably about 15-30 mins on average to get to work. it is infuriating, and when it does finally sync, half the information doesn’t show up correctly so you have to try to run it again or wait another 15-30 minutes for that to show up. Two nights ago I was trying to sync for over 2 hours. This is really frustrating while I’m in the middle of a workout, especially a run where I don’t want to stop and fiddle with my watch/phone, or when I’m trying to quickly check my stats on the go Functionality: This isn’t the WORST thing about it - it does its job for tracking for the most part. I have lost a lot of sleep data due to the connectivity and app issues though which was a big factor I purchased the sense rather than the apple watch initially so I’m annoyed about that. They also got rid of all the social features in the app in January. I also learned recently you don’t have to pay a premium subscription for a lot of the analytics (sleep, cardio health, etc) you do on Fitbit if you get a garmin or apple watch. Sometimes I feel like the tracking is lagging compared to its competitors, it feels like google is just stagnating Fitbit using its established consumer base until they can get more marketshare with the pixel watch. Pros: appearance, comfort, technically does what it says, just not very well All that being said, if it wouldn’t keep dying within a year of purchase and it would actually connect to my phone/the app actually worked I would probably buy another sense next just because I am familiar with it, it does the trick, and it has all my past data. However it doesn’t seem like that will be improving so I will have to switch on my next fitness tracker I have to buy, which will probably be quite soon unfortunately. This has worked really well for about 1.5 years. One big issue with Fitbit is the sleep measuring, you have to remain motionless for an hour before it starts counting sleep. And I sleep way too badly for it to measure well. Battery life was REALLY good until a few weeks ago, almost exactly 2 years after getting it. Battery was lasting about a week. Now I have to charge it so often, it lasts about a day and a half. That's fine for some people but a way downgrade from what it was. 2 years, must be time for a new one. ... show more

    • Not as Bad as I First Thought, But...

When my original Sense died prematurely, I researched whether to just get another one, or spend an additional $80 to upgrade to Sense 2. I decided not to risk another premature death of a Sense, and went for the new model, expecting everything the Sense did plus new functions. I was unpleasantly surprised that the "look and feel" were so different, for no apparent reason. Specifically, what you see when you swipe in a direction has changed. What was a left swipe is now a down swipe. What was a down swipe is now an up swipe. From a left or right swipe, there are some new tiles with corresponding new functions, which are upgrades, but some (hourly activity this hour, and hours today with at least 250 steps) are gone and not available on the watch, only on the app, a downgrade. After 24 hours with the Sense 2 I am faced with a decision whether to return it and buy a Sense, or keep it. My two star rating reflects my feeling that this product deserves a grade of D. Updated to add two more negatives: The heart rate is often missing from the clock face. This may be the fault of the face or the device itself, but it’s a fault. I like a statistics heavy face. Two minute quick scan mindfulness sessions are seldom logged, despite repeated refreshes (synchronizations) or quick scans. Only the longer guided sessions are reliably scanned. My decision whether to keep or return the Sense 2 is still pending, awaiting results of functions that require more time. Five month update: This was prompted by the email reminder that the free introductory six months of Fitbit Premium would auto-renew at the end of the month, for $90 a year, unless I opt out at least a day before expiration. The problems noted above most annoyingly persist. On the other hand, I have come to rely on some of the additional capabilities and health information available only with Premium; and tempted by those I have yet to explore, I have reluctantly and somewhat unhappily decided to continue. Update, September 1, 2025, after just over 27 months: The battery now lasts less than 48 hours. I wear the watch continuously, including yard work with a gasoline powered trimmer, blower, and mower, and remove it only for charging. Another negative that I forgot mention earlier is the charger that came with it failed long ago, apparently because one of the protruding electrodes no longer protrudes enough to make contact with the watch's recessed electrode. The aftermarket charger works fine, but I shouldn't have had to buy it. Otherwise I have come to rely on the watch and the health information it provides. If the battery situation continues to deteriorate, I look into the service contract. If it isn't covered I will probably, and again somewhat reluctantly, buy another Sense 2, unless there's a newer better model by then. Another update, 5/27/2026: This evening Google pushed the new Fitbit app to my iPhone. It doesn't display most of the data, gray blocks instead. So far, the watch is fine but the app is useless. Update 7/1/2026: I changed my previous one star to three, equivalent to a grade of C-, after Google finally pushed out the full app and i worked with it a while. The app is heavy with AI coaching that is not always accurate: when I edit a statistic to correct it, the correction doesn't ripple through all tabs or AI sermons. And the AI often sends premature notifications. One example was when I woke up in the middle of the night, took a sip of water, noticed that my phone just lit up, and opened it to see that I've had only 3 hours and 28 minutes of sleep overnight, and the AI has given me all sorts of advice based on the assumption that I was awake and up for the day. The blurb from the AI disappeared when I actually got up several hours later, but only after I forced a refresh several times. There have been a few features that I couldn't access. One of them, hourly step activity, was eventually made partially available in the app, but actual progress each hour is available only during the final ten minutes of each hour. Another feature that I couldn't get to was the ECG: the AI's instructions didn't work, its Plan B workaround also failed, and when I looked for Plan C the AI gave up and referred me to the website that needed a user ID and password that I've forgotten because they haven't been needed in years. My previous Fitbit Sense and app used to show a little map of the paths I took when logging a walk, but sadly that feature is no longer available. I expect Google to work out the bugs and correct the omission(s?), but it's hugely disappointing that there are any bugs or omissions at all. ... show more
