Purchased for my 10YO daughter, who researched and picked this unit out herself. It came in a very heavy box that was fairly beat-up, but everything inside was in perfect condition. The material is a surfaced particle board, but if you didn't see the raw edges, it looks like solid wood. There are a lot of parts and panels and hardware pieces; it is probably not a novice-build. I do have to say though, the machining and how everything fit together was really impressive. All the screw holes are right where they are supposed to be and there were no awkward fittings. I also appreciated that most of the numbered stickers for the pieces were thoughtfully placed to be hidden within non-visible seams in the final construction. My only suggestion would be the manufacturer should consider some kind of wire-management solution for the back of the mirror, as the wires from the lights just hang loosely. I taped them down with black duct tape. The different lighting modes and adjustable brightness are good features, and the finish of the piece is a nice, solid-black semi-gloss. Also noted the handles are a brass-looking metal, which was a nice touch (bought something from IKEA recently that came with plastic handles). Really nice piece. I am impressed! ... show more

Bought this for my teenage daughter and she loves it. There are a lot of pieces so I would recommend a few things: Sort each piece out neatly before starting, solicit help if you can (I had my brother help me), and consider watching the video along with following the paper instructions. The placement of the holes can get a bit tricky. It took roughly 3 hours to assemble and was pretty easy, just tedious - so be patient because it'll be worth it! ... show more

This took a long time to put together and was not an easy setup. It does come with all of the tools to set up, but if you have tools at home it makes it quicker and more efficient to set up. I do like this desk a lot and use it every day but it is at an awkward height. I spent a lot of time looking through allll of the vanities on amazon to find the best one. I am a college student so when spending $200+ on something I wanted to find the one that was the most worth it in my opinion. Reviews on most of the vanities on amazon say they are cheap material, come broken or missing pieces, and aren't worth the price. I finally decided on this one because the reviews were mostly positive. I also ended up with this one because it only took 5 days or less to come, and shipping was only $20. It is one of the more expensive ones but I figured that if it was less of risk then it was worth the extra $50. which, some vanities that cost $70 to ship would end up being even more expensive. This vanity surprised me. other than it taking 3+ hours to assemble, which i prepared for. The material is a cheap wood but it's frame is metal. I think it is sturdy and will last a couple years if taken care of. Its well made and put together. The lights are amazing and I just hope they last. So.. In my opinion, for the money spent, and the time, it is more than worth it and I am very glad I chose this one to spend my money on. i will get so much use out of it. ... show more

The shipping and handling fees were outrageous, ON TOP of the Sky high tax, and it wasn't even eligible for Prime delivery?? !! And, to top it off, the mirror was broken, so was one of the wood corners. !!
