  • The "Goldilocks" Choice
Format: Kindle
I am preparing to downsize from almost 5,000 square feet. I wanted to see what was possible. Lisa's book made that possible. I clicked through many of the links Lisa provided to see examples of the tiny homes. Tiny Homes helped me to see that I do not want to downsize all the way to "tiny". Lisa convinced me that I do want a small home with a lower monthly mortgage and taxes, lower upkeep costs, lower utility bills, along with less cleaning. Lisa offers examples and pictures of tiny houses. And she identifies the many things one must consider when deciding to go small, no, tiny. I recommend this book for anyone who is considering downsizing. It helped me to imagine what it would be like living in a very small home. I know it helped me decide on the "Goldilocks" option. The house I am in is too large. The tiny houses are too small. After finishing this book I have a much better idea of what will be "just right" for me. Good job Lisa. Thank you. ... show more

  • Helpful and easy to understand
Format: Kindle
I’ve been hooked on the idea of creating a ‘tiny home’ since I first came across one in person and was impressed by how efficiently they are able to take advantage of even the smallest sizes of space. The only problem was, up until now, I didn’t really know what to look into or what kind of sources to consult to learn more about the concept. So, all that being said, and having now completed the “Tiny Homes” read – I can now say that thanks to author Lisa Daniels, I have a MUCH stronger understanding of not only the benefits and pros that tiny homes can offer, but also some of the cons that come with the territory. The author has done a wonderful job of expressing the info in an informative and professional way that I personally found to be very easy to understand. I was also glad to find that the author has included plenty of other external sources for serious readers who wish to keep on learning more about these tiny homes. I’d say that this book is a great introduction for beginners because it covers both the basics as well as the more comprehensive side of building a tiny home, in a way that is clearly backed by plenty of research. ... show more

  • Good introduction but not the "ultimate" guide
Format: Kindle
I may never move into a tiny house, but I am fascinated by the possibilities and downloaded the book when it was offered free. I was hoping it would live up to its title as the "ultimate" guide. It didn't, although it was a handy overview of some of the main options (container homes, free-standing, trailer-pulled, yurts, etc.). Daniels provides links to some good sites but stops a long way from ultimate. For anyone just starting to contemplate radical downsizing, the book provides an introduction. But if what you're looking for is real detail, you'll be left hungry. ... show more

  • Good read
Format: Kindle
I love how it goes through the steps of the types of tiny homes. I also love how it goes through making sure you know to check your county for codes on how small you can build.

  • It has virtually no worthwhile content.
Format: Paperback
This is not worth a penny. It has virtually no worthwhile content. The book has a nice cover but nothing at all of value inside. I threw it out as I would not sell it and ruin my reputation as a seller. You will learn nothing from reading this book and will wish you could have your time back.

  • Fun intro
Format: Kindle
This is a good introduction to the tiny homes movement. Not complete or "ultimate" but fun and satisfying with lots of pictures.
