Description

The Timex Expedition Field Chrono draws design inspiration from vintage military watches. The unique dial features numerals in increments of five up to 60 and three sub-dials that track minutes, seconds, and 1/20 of a second for up to 30 minutes. An easy to operate date window is located at 4 o'clock. With the Quick Date function, you can set the date on the watch without turning the crown for every 24-hour period. Just pull the stem halfway out, and turn until desired date is reached. It also offers water resistance to 330 feet (100 meters) and a durable leather strap. The Indigo night-light uniformly lights the surface of the watch dial using patented blue electroluminescent lighting technology. It uses less battery power than most other watch illumination systems, enabling your watch battery to last longer. • Fine Timex
I’ve got a small collection of watches, automatic’s mostly. But this quartz watch has become my daily one. It looks great, keeps great time. It checked all the boxes for me. Nice one Timex. Keep it up.

  • uncertain
I have had several expeditions, and they have all been satisfactory. But this watch has some personality, some character and even though I have to search for the time on occasion, it is still a more interesting watch.

  • EDC watch for the guy who can't make up his mind what he does.
Let me start by saying that this watch looks fantastic. Some people don't care about appearance and just want the functionality. I can appreciate that but in my case in need one that looks good. (And let's be honest, I love a good field watch.) I work at a railroad so I need a watch that conforms to GCOR (General Code of Operating Rules) by having a hour, minute and second hand, which this does. I could wear a Casio or something similar and it would work, but I work at a tourist railroad so it's got to look nice with a white shirt and tie. I also mountain bike, shoot, and sometimes do construction/farm work. I don't take my watch off for any of these things. In short, I wear this watch every day doing a lot of different things. It is easy to read (After a little getting used to) and it looks nice. I can't attest to the longevity yet as I've only had it for about a month or so but so far after one month of continuous use there are no signs of wear. Pros: The appearance. It looks rugged but still classy, aka; Manly It's versatile. Wear it to church, wear it to work, wear it to school, wear it for fun. The Chronograph. I just use it as a timer, it works just fine for that. Indiglo. The Indiglo works really well and the hour and minute hands glow in the dark. Easy to see the numbers. Date window! I love the date window, it is so handy. Cons: The Chronograph. It's nice, don't get me wrong, but it kinda complicates the face. also, the "second hand" is actually the second hand for the chronograph only. the actual second hand is the small dial at 6:00. Not a huge deal, just something I had to get used to. Hard to read. It doesn't have the traditional hour numbers, just the minute. (5,10, 15...) and only half of them at that because of the chronograph dials. It's not bad, but it does take some getting used to. This watch looks good with a suit all the way down to a (properly fitted) T-shirt and jeans, it keeps perfect time so far, it's comfortable, and conforms to GCOR. If you want a watch that tells you temperature, barometric pressure, time zones, your mood, everybody else's mood, and your Zodiac sign; you're looking at the wrong watch. If you want a watch that tells you the time, date and can do a simple timer all while looking sharp, this is for you. Well worth the $50. Just do it, you'll be happy. ... show more

  • How cool is it to own an old school chronograph
Here are my thoughts on this watch plus some important info... *so maybe the important info first. For those who own, or those who buy this watch, here is the link to the manual. This manual is for several similar watches so you need to go to page 26 for this chronograph. Manual* Ha so my review was rejected for inserting the link to the manual. Sorry guys, you will have to find it on your own on the timex web site ok now for my thoughts... 1. How cool is it to own an old school chronograph? This is a fully functional chronograph and so yes it is Very cool! Old school vintage nerdiness never goes out of style (like bow ties... bow ties are cool. It is a *time* thing) B. It looks good on my wrist. I am a guy who has really only owned digital watches and and old diver watch that doesn't work anymore. I have taken to not wearing a watch when i go out because the digital thing is not very stylish. This chronograph on the other hand looks more at home with a nice shirt when going out. C. It is pretty darn accurate. A few days after setting it, the time is dead on. 4. The chronograph feature is calibratable (calibratable... is that a word? because spell check doesn't think so), just read the manual. 5. The band is fine, but a little on the light duty side. I am looking at replacing it probably. 6. It is a Timex, so takes a licking... right? 7. The finish on this watch is nice enough but i suspect it may be prone to scratches. It looks like brushed stainless that has an electro-coating of some kind. 8. This thing has a nice Indiglow function so you can check the time at night. Back in the old days they used proper radioactive phosphorescent pixie dust to light the hands of watches. those radioactive pixies are now pretty rare so they use led back lighting instead. 9. Lastly this is an inexpensive watch and durability is an unknown. I work with tools at my job so i will stick with digital watches there but this will be my knock around watch at home and going out. ***“Amy Pond: 'I thought... well, I started to think you were just a madman with a box.' The Doctor: 'Amy Pond, there's something you better understand about me, 'cause it's important and one day your life may depend on it. [He Smiles] I am definitely a madman with a box.” ... show more

  • Really Like This Watch
The look of the dial on this watch grabbed me as soon as I saw it. I just think it looks great. I had a gift card left over from the Holiday season and thought I would see what I could come up with for a very inexpensive watch. This one exceeded my expectations. I only ended up paying about $35 for it, and it's been on my wrist a lot since I got it. More than some of my other watches that cost 3x or more. Just waiting to see how it wears over time, but I'm not expecting any problems. I'll probably try a different strap on it, even though I like the one it came with it. ... show more

  • I enjoy the look of the analog watch especially not having to plug it in to recharge
I have always been a watch guy, within my spending limits, and when the fitness watch craze took off I was late to the game. I have owned several smartwatches but they always left me with something to be desired. The annoyance of remembering to recharge and having to either push a button and flick the wrist to have the time or fitness info displayed. I realized I do just as many steps with or without the smartwatch and I don't really need to change my display. I decided to go back to the basics and I have never had Timex fail me. I still have my Timex from 28 years ago and it is still working and tells me the moon phase without a wifi connection. Keep up the good work Timex. ... show more
