  • Great watch! (a bit ugly, but great features and very reliable)
Color: Black/Digital Gray/Gray
Great watch. I've been so disappointed by other digital watches for men, but this one is really nice. The watch is a bit on the ugly side for my taste. It is not the most attractive in terms of color. But the functionality is just what I wanted, and the watch is sturdy and water resistant. Pros: Setting the watch time, alarms etc is easy and there are on-screen prompts that indicate which button does what when setting. The buttons do not make annoying beeps every time you press them (although you can turn on beeps if you want). The hourly chime is off by default. There are 3 different alarms and each one can be set individually to go off: (A) Daily, (B) on Weekdays only or (C) on Weekends only -- a really great feature! There are two time zones. Many watches implement this in a very annoying way, but I like how this watch has done it--the second time zone is there and you can see it at a glance by pressing and holding a button, but it doesn't keep showing the second time zone, and it doesn't show the second time zone as a separate "mode". I find it very confusing when other watches do that. Basically what I'm saying is that the second time zone is available, but it is subtle and clear--not confusing and "in-your-face" like on many other watches. The indiglo nightlight is very nice. The display is legible and well-laid out--not busy or obnoxious like many other watches. The watch is water resistant and sturdy. I've already had it thrown in the tub by my kids and it still works perfectly. ... show more

  • Great for Softball Games
Color: Black/Digital Gray/Black
Great easy to use, easy to read digital chronograph. I bought this to use while coaching my 12U softball team. I wanted something lightweight, comfortable, durable, and with an easy to read timer/chrono function. This fits the description. While there are literally zero instructions, after about 60 seconds of messing with it I figured out all of the functions. The timer and stop watch function are very handy in tournaments. And now I don't have to worry about something happening to my Apple Watch or more expensive Chronographs. The light/lume feature is barely adequate. The velcro strap is so far well made and comfortable. Great buy for $40 ... show more

  • Great Watch!
Color: Black/Digital Gray/Black
I bought this watch for my brother but he had a watch already. I kept it and I love it. It's light weight & the velcro wrist band is comfortable. It's like I'm not even wearing a watch at all. Numbers are bright & easy to use. ✌️

  • Solid watch - compass is a bit gimmicky
Color: Black/Digital Gray/Gray
The watch itself is great. It has a comfortable strap. Accessing functions is fairly easy. Great illumination and I really like that it has a vibrating alarm. I do short dives in the ocean (not that deep as it's freediving) and it holds up well. The only complaint is the compass is lightly affixed to the strap and easily pops off. Mine came off when rinsing the salt water off it after the second use. But I've been using it for a while now and no other issues. Recommend investing in something more rugged if you're planning on extrenuous activities. Definitely wouldn't trust it as your sole compass (it's more like a kids toy compass). As for sizing, I'm a petite woman with slim wrists. The men's 40mm fits comfortably and doesn't look like I'm wearing a dinner plate on my wrist. ... show more

  • A Timely Discovery
Color: Black/Digital Gray/Black
After buying a very disappointing Casio el cheapo, first bad one I've ever had but it was royally bad, tended to reset itself if you placed it face down on the counter for example.... I ended up with this watch as a replacement. Wish I had seen this one first. The face is large and friendly. The display is both high contrast and suitably large print. I am getting older and it's nice not to have to squint. Even the secondary data like day and month are larger than many digital watches' main display yet the overall size is not humunguous. I like a large watch as I have large wrists and hands and this does not overwhelm. It's a bit thick and a little plasticky but it's not a Cartier or even a Seiko and I didn't buy it for elegance. The backlighting takes a bit of getting used to as it shows the dial in reverse, like a photo negative for those of you who actually remember photo negatives. :) But a couple of days on and I'm fine with it, The normal watch face is of such a contrast that I only need to use the backlight in real darkness and once you get used to the different look, it's not a problem to read at all. It's alleged to be waterproof to 100 meters but you must take that with a major grain of salt with anything but a genuine diving watch. If it survives an occasional dunk in the sink or a swim I will be happy. Watchband: The watchband is Velcro with a touch of something neoprene-like at the tip of the "belt" It's a bit awkward as the band doubles back through a "keeper" like the strap on a backpack and the whole thing is a bit thick and not easy to do one-handed. My wrist is thick enough I can't just undo the Velcro part, I have to slip the entire band out of the "belt" to take it off. A nuisance but not a fatal one, if your wrists are smaller you won't even notice. if my wrist was any larger, the band would not fit as it is extended almost to the Neoprene tab at the end, Other reviews have commented on this as well. I haven't yet played with the various inevitable extra features: stop watch, alarm, microwave oven etc. I rarely use them so I can't comment but as a nice, basic watch for everyday knockabout use, I am well pleased and the price is quite reasonable. You can spend more and get worse. Casio used to be my cheap watch of choice but their quality seems to have diminished badly. I haven't had a Timex since I was a kid (and that was long enough ago that you wound the watch by hand) but perhaps I've been away too long, I like this watch, it's not fancy but it works. Update 8/2015: Since I bought this I have started doing volunteer work at a local aquarium. Once a week, this watch is regularly dipped (up to my elbow) in salt water for minutes at a time and it's holding up fine. The band is getting worn and some of the rubbery parts are turning white, probably from the salt so it's definitely not the watch for classy evening wear now. No question it is water-proof for this level of use (up to about three feet deep with lots of activity) and I like it even more now. Update - May 2016- Keeps on trucking. Weekly salt water dunks continue with no problem whatsoever. Plastic case is showing tiny nicks and dents from rough usage and banging on the rocks. Velcro bajnd still works fine but has turned a sort of weathered "salt and pepper color". Update - Almost November 2016 - Velcro on the watch band has almost given up the ghost. Barely sticks now. I take it off and put it on at least once a day so I guess the "hook and loop" material is just worn out. A replacement band will probably cost as much as the watch so it may be time (no pun intended) to replace this one. On the plus side, the same battery is still going strong. Can't beat this watch overall for value. Great value in a basic every day watch. No longer even vaguely suitable for wearing with a good suit to the Symphony but it's a primo work-a-day watch. ... show more

  • Great everyday watch
Color: Black/Digital Gray/Black
I have a very similar Timex watch, it must be 20 years old. It looks tattered, but works fine. This is a slightly updated model. I got all black which I think looks better than the black / silver. It's rather large, and is thick, both of which are fine with me. I like the velco band because I can adjust it exactly, never too loose or too tight. The back light is cool. I accidentally ordered a different similar looking Timex Expedition watch, labeled mid-sized. I returned it because I thought it was too small, but others may prefer it. So pay attention when ordering. I use it for working in the yard, hiking, around home etc. I have a couple nicer dress watches but I don't want to bang them up. I ordered this as used from Amazon Warehouse, and saved $15. It looks like new, never worn, but no box. ... show more
