Update - 07/22/2020 Timetec did respond via email to my email request for support. They offered to replace the RAM memory free of charge. It was 9 months old. They provided a free shipping label, and I shipped the product back. They shipped back replacement memory free of charge timely. They sent tracking information. I installed the new Timetec 2 - 16GB cards memory easily and did not need to switch slots as with the prior RAM memory shipped. My iMac recognized the new RAM memory with no problems. I now have 40 GB RAM memory installed, and system is working without crashes so far after 24 hours. I still think it is important for people to know that if your computer system crashes frequently after an upgrade to the RAM, check the RAM. I will update again if I notice my system crashing again in days to months. I am impressed with Timetec customer service. They emailed me that they are a small business, and do not list a phone number or answer a phone. They did everything correct to make this purchase right. I will purchase from them again without hesitation. I am posting to let people know my experience. I upgraded my overall rating to 5 star. I am not going to fault them for the initial bad memory since I realize this can happen with any product. Thank you Timetec :) ====================== Initial Review - 7/2020 I received 2 sticks of 16GB RAM Timetec memory last year and was able to get 27 inch IMAC 2017 5 K display 3.8 Hz working after adjusting which slots to insert memory. I had to move the memory sticks along with the Apple installed memory and it seemed to work when placed in slots 2 and 3. My system had 40 GB of memory. But then my IMAC started crashing. I can't remember how long it took before the system started crashing. It may have been days to weeks. Black screens and reboots. Very irritating. I blamed the Apple product IMAC. I did not associate this with the Timetec RAM memory. We just used our windows computers and other laptops for important stuff in case the IMAC crashed. We have been dealing with the IMAC crashes daily for months. I bought cleanmymac program and this software program also crashed every time it tried to run the RAM check. I contacted cleanmymac and they could not figure it out. We had no viruses or malware. Finally, after additional months of having the IMAC crash, I was ready to junk my IMAC. I had contacted Apple suppliers regarding replacing boards and doing hardware servicing and they all recommended that it would be too expensive. As a last resort, I decided to finally remove the Timetec RAM and guess what?! The IMAC system works without crashing. I tried calling Timetec to discuss, but they don't have a phone number. I am awaiting their response via tech support and support email. I agree with the others here who have had problems with the 2017 IMAC system and can't believe how much time I wasted trying to fix my IMAC issue. I wish I had thought of removing this RAM many months ago. I decided to post this to help others just in case your Apple IMAC starts crashing or giving you problems. Think about removing the Timetec RAM and see what happens. It may save you from junking your IMAC computer. It did for me.

My new iMac went from 8GB up to 40GB by adding these two 16GB Timetec Hynix memory cards! (For reference, the iMac it replaced maxed out at just 6GB!) I chose the Hynix memory because earlier Apple Macs used this brand. They've been around for a while, which is reassuring. Even so, before buying I emailed TimeTec's support to make sure about their lifetime warranty - and they replied the same day! Their reply: "Please don't worry about it. We provide lifetime warranty for our memory products for US customers. So we can offer you free exchange for replacement anytime you have problems with our memory, no matter how many years you have used it." That level of service and reassurance sold me - as did the competitive price. The installation was easy and took about 5 minutes from shut down to start-up (with everything unplugged in between). The iMac booted just fine on the first try and, as noted in this pic with this review, the 40GB shows up, ready to go! In time, I'll pull the two original 4GB sticks and replace those with another set of TimeTec 2x16GB cards.

This was the cheapest 16GB DDR4 RAM I could find for a new Intel NUC desktop mini computer. I generally buy RAM first by spec, then by cost. Even if cheap RAM doesn't work, it won't ruin anything. The description of this Hynix RAM says it's for Apple, but it will work in any PC requiring DDR4 laptop memory. I used it in a new Intel NUC with an i7 processor. This is perfectly good RAM. Don't be deterred by description saying it's for Apple. I encountered memoryerrors with the first set of Hynix modules I received, but they were easily returned and replaced. The replacement set works perfectly--and I have the guilty suspicion that the issue with the original set was due to my not seating one of the modules correctly. The second time around the top RAM module went in the slot more cleanly, a difference I only noticed when I was replacing the first set with the second. Sorry, Hynix, it may have been the fault of a balky clip rather than your RAM. I really don't know. This is good RAM at a good price.

This is my first time buy from Timetec brand. Despite some bad reviews, I trusted and bought it. It turns out to be good value for money. The RAM was easy to install (just follow Apple guide). I put these RAM into existing RAM slots and put existing RAM in remaining two slots. This way I had 40GB RAM. My model is Retina 5K iMac 27inch mid 2017 model (i7 4.2GHz). Then I plugged my iMAC back and hit the power button. After a black screen of 5 or 8 seconds, it boots up and quickly let me to login and voila, I am flying. So far, no issues. 40GB and it is enough for all my needs. I wish the packaging could be more robust (the existing packaging is prone to breakdown if not handled carefully in shipping).

Update 03/17/19 Timetec agreed I had a bad stick of memory and replaced with no issues. They RMA'd a replacement quickly and so far no problems. iMAC appears to be working fine with 32GB of RAM. Thank you Timetec. Original review RAM causes constant kernel panic attacks, shutting down or rebooting computer unexpectedly. I have tried this memory with and without the standard memory, and in different slot combinations. Each time I experience unexpected system shutdowns and 3 hard disk corruption events leading to a complete disk erase and operating system reload. I have spent 3 sessions with Apple Support, each at least 2 hours, trying to figure out what is wrong. We eliminated everything down to the RAM. I am outside my return period with Amazon so will initiate RMA with Timetec.

Bought this to upgrade my iMac 4k 2017, still had the stock 8gb and despite the change to SSD it was still very slow when opening multiple apps or tabs. With the help of the youtube videos "Upgrade RAM in a mid-2017 21-inch iMac without complete disassembly." and "How to Upgrade/Install Memory in a 21.5-inch iMac (Mid 2017) iMac18,1 iMac18,2" I carefully opened up my machine and within an hour the process was done. Amazing decision and the change is noticeable, the computer recognized the memory right away and has been working properly for a week. Recommended.

Our 2017 iMac Retina 5K 27-inch 3.4Ghz i5 came originally equipped with 8GB ram and was advertised as user configurable to 16GB or 32GB according to Apple. Well, that 8GB really isn't enough to run several memory-hungry programs simultaneously. Performance is sluggish and even problematic at times. Finally decided after 5 years to upgrade not to 32GB as Apple claims is the upper limit but to the full 64GB. This kit matched the specs and had good reviews so I ordered it. Installing the 4 sticks was easy and the resulting performance improvement is amazing. Too early to comment on reliability but several weeks of daily use and not a single problem or hiccup to report. Very satisfied with this purchase.
