I scored a very similar pair of Timberlands in brown at an independent thrift store, and after some rehabbing, they became an every day pair. So when my Columbia Newton Ridge boots' so-called "waterproof full-grain leather" started crackling, revealing that they were PU coated (and NOT full-grain under that), I looked for Timberland chukkas in black, finding these. I compared them to my brown pair and noted these minor differences. 1) Black hails from Bangladesh (vs brown from Cambodia) 2) Slightly shorter outsole at the heel though the boot itself is the same 3) Slightly thicker outsole (I'm a 1/4" taller!) 4) Coarser, more aggressive tread 5) Smooth toe (ever so slight cap on the browns) 6) Leather tongue (mesh on the browns) 7) Comfort: No Difference! They fit beautifully all day! 8) Price: Yah, but these are totally worth it. If not for the thrift store pair, I never would have tried Timberland, and I would have missed out on an excellent brand. Note: this pair came with the same oiled leather finish as the brown pair. I put polish on the browns as part of the rehab process and they took the new finish with no problems. I haven't yet, but when I do hit these with polish (I want to wear them through the rainy season first.), I am sure they'll shine up nicely as well. ... show more

Unfortunately shoe sizes are little bit different, I am 11.5 and this boots were marked 11.5 but when I tried them on they were 1.5 size too big. Construction looks solid. Leather looks good, looks like is missing something around the leg rim.
